Since his crappy mid-career run of sub losses Hunto has spent time on the ground with several notable submission aces - Werdum, Struve and Rothwell in particular - and survived just fine with them.

Assuming he can get some ground time with Hunto in the first place, can Mir be the one to return us to the era of Subbed Hunto?

I don't see why not. A lot of things can happen.

Definitely. Stuffing Rothwell's (or even Werdum's) guard is not like playing with Mir. Werdum is the only guy who is better than Mir on the mat, but I still think Mir has better submissions. Frank moves his hips like a LW and has bone-breaking strength. Hunt has thick limbs and a lot of grit, but I think- once they hit the mat- Frank will catch him early if Hunt doesn't smash him.

Am I even reading that right ? I got Hunt, by KO. But imo, to say it's anything other than a toss-up, is fuckin retarded.

Of course Mir can submit Hunt.

THE FUCK ?

Hunt KO is more likely but anything can happen

Yes, he can definitely submit him, Mir can do that to anybody. The question is if Mir can bring the fight down there in the first place.

I think Hunt's lower center of gravity and underrated TDD will be put on display in this fight and Hunto will earn the TKO

Well he was subbed by that BJJ wiz Sean McCorkle, so anything's possible I suppose.

If he can get him on the floor he has at least a 50% shoot at making him say uncle

It is possible. Mir stands and trades though IMO and it doesn't last long. Mir has a very poor fight IQ.

hint: that is a Nogueria. I do not like MMA math BUT if you can sub a Nog you can sub any heavyweight.

Sigh.

He can. He won't though.

i'm pretty sure Mir has proven he can sub anyone

he subbed Minotauro while he was barely awake

Mir can sub anyone if he can get it to the ground. Hunt might provide an opening and if he does Mir will take it. Watching Mir on the ground at his best is watching perhaps the best submission heavyweight of all time. Yes that includes the great Brazilians.
