In the market for a tablet but don't want to pay a lot. Got Amazon recommendations? Giving me affiliate links is OK so you profit too.

Aren't those Amazon Fire tablets on sale sometimes?

Yeah, I noticed they are cheap. Is there anything I can't do on those that I can on other brands?
How do I explain Amazon Fire tablets concisely? Let me think. Okay, we'll try this mental exercise.

Think of Android. Think of everything that makes it good: its flexibility, its compatibility, its ability to operate software that works openly with all other software, its depth of market options, everything besides its economy. Now take all of that away.

Now think of iOS. Think of everything that makes it good: its first-class citizen treatment, its superior app store, its performance, its stability, its longevity, its build quality. Now take all of that away.

Congratulations. You have a Fire tablet.

In other words, Jeff Bezos's approach to designing a tablet is more or less identical to Melvin Udall's approach to writing a woman.

You can install the google playstore on it and then install ACMarket appstore, which let's you install paid apps and such, sometimes letting you install games with hacks as well. The tablet just doesn't perform well enough for an adult that plays games other than solitaire and such though.

My kid has dozens of games on hers, but the newer games in the play store or hacked store just do not perform well. First, the tablet wasn't built for apps other than those in Amazon's marketplace, so it is not optimized for installing google play and other things.

That being said, once you have Google Play and ACMarket app stores, its not an AWFUL tablet, I just can't use it for what I truly wanted, which was a rooted android device.

I would mainly be using YouTube and Instagram and Flickr on it.

Kindle Fires are absolutely fine for that. I tend to purchase stuff to "only do a few things on" myself, then the want to do more expands, and the lack of doing more on the Fire caught up with me.

If that's all you want to do, they are not bad devices at all. Great hardware for the money, just SOOOOOOO locked down.

Those are the main sites I go to on the internet. I have never played computer games.

If you have a wife, you can get an iPad for free!

I originally read tablet as table and still was gonna say no
