Looking for legit feedback, but I'm realistic and know the haters will catch a whiff of this thread and eventually pounce...No Hate on my part!

Anyway...so I haven't been into (secular) HH/Rap music since Snoop, Dre, Pac, etc.

I became a hardcore Mexican music aficionado, going as far as playing with a few bands many moons ago...

So, as a new Christian, I was kind of in a bind a few years ago...didn't have many options when it came to music...

That is, until I started listening to Lecrae, a Christian Hip Hop (CHH) artist...I know when we think Jesus and Rap music, it's easy to assume it's wiggity-wack, but Lecrae was sounding real good at the time...matter of fact, he'a gone on to win several music awards, and not just Dove awards (Christian music awards).

So, long story short, I've been listening to CHH strong for roughly 5 years now...

I compare it to the stuff I hear my co-workers playing, and I can't help but think it's way better than what's on the radio...mind you, I may have a biased opinion, but side by side, I think many of these CHH artists straight kill most secular artists...

If any of my Sherbros are serious HH/Rap junkies, I'd like for you to scope out these next few tracks and give me your honest opinion.

Thanx!

I hear ya, Brotha...thanks for chiming in.

Not my flavor, but you gotta respect their conviction to stay true to themselves.

There is nothing more embarrassing musically than Christian rap and metal.

In terms of actual rap music, none of them were terrible. The last two were alright, the last one specifically kind of sounded like Lupe.
I wasn't big on the first 2, although you could tell the guys in the first one were talented lyrically, I just didn't like it as a whole, personally.

The underlying message aside, I don't think I could argue that most of those guys are probably more talented in a raw sense compared to most rap artists you'd hear on the radio.

In terms of them actually being Christian rappers, that's personally something I couldn't listen to on a regular basis. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but it's just not my thing. If I don't agree with the underlying message of an artists who talks about it on almost every track, I can't stand it beyond a song or two regardless of how good everything else may sound.

You had me at Lecrae. Dude is dope as fuck. Not really into CHH though, but Lecrae is legit so I might check those other dudes out.

The HH narrative has really died down around here. It's either don't talk about it at all or post shit like Future, Wale, Khalifa Drake/Mill beef or whatever other mainstream garbage is going around.

At least when Rooster was around he kept bumping the old HH thread.

Yeah. It's hard to find much hip hop discussion around here. Even the old hip hop thread turned into a mess before it was basically abandoned all together.

that bizzle track reminds me of the pooh i hear on the radio.

datin sounding like a fake ass joell ortiz on that track.

lecrae track was eh. not knocking any of their hustles, like fyrfytr998 said i also respect their convictions, but i dont feel like christianity and rap go together, i say this as a huge a fan of hip hop and firm believer in Christ.

music is subjective, different artists/tracks hit ppl differently, depending on whats going on in their life and if they can relate. unfortunately the only hip hop i catch myself listening to is older shit. pac big ghostface/wu being obvious favorites with some slaughterhouse and funk volume b4 they split, other than that the only 2 albums on constant repeat for the past year + for me have been Legends nvr Die by RA the Rugged Man & Preface by Elzhi, which imo are the best albums ive heard since ghostinis ironman release. currently RA is my favorite rapper.

Listen to Necro. Very wholesome with an uplifting message in his music.

Who cares what other people think. Listen to the good clean music that gets you in the groove.
