The Metacritic score (Rotten Tomatoes is too simplistic for me) is a near-perfect 93. Metacritic categorizes reviews in terms of "positive", "mixed" and "negative". There are NO negative reviews and only TWO mixed ones. Of those two mixed reviews, here's the excerpt I most agree with,

"“Call Me by Your Name” isn’t so much a bad movie as a dull, bloated one, a tale of teen sexual intensity drawn out beyond the point of holding our interest, footnoted with all these spoken (repeatedly, by one and all) provisos — “This is OK because…”

That’s all well and good, but I found it lacking as drama, romance and period piece, a turgid potboiler overheated under the Tuscan sun."

Opinions?

Homophobes, stay out. No one needs to hear from any of you cunts.

I stopped listening to critics a long time ago, I prefer to just go into movies blind, I hardly even watch trailers anymore tbh.

I find movies about teh gays in general seem to be overly praised. Is it some weird agenda to turn everyone into ghey frogs? I doubt it. Are people hesistant to rag on them in fear of being labelled a homophobe? Perhaps. Are gay movies just usually about a subject matter that the director or makers are passionate about so they come out slightly above average? Who knows.

But a trend of there being an above average amount of highly rated lgbt movies does exist. I seent it.

I'll watch trailers for movies I'm excited for but otherwise I pretty much don't watch trailers either. I read the description if it sounds good I start watching it.
