California looks like Mars today

Very 80s stylish movie, it’s up there with Cobra.

It is 80s like Cobra but I think it's a much more serious and also much better film. I wouldn't have been opposed to Oscar consideration for the movie, Douglas, Ken Takakura and Yusaku Matsuda.

true, completely different films, just meant they represented the 80s style well.

Another good one is year of the dragon with Mickey rourke,

I love those 80s movies, nothing bears them.

I expect a lot of terrible short films in the dystopian sci-fi genre to be flooding film festivals everywhere soon. Every would be Ridley Scott is going to be out there giving their friends black lung.

I was up and about at 5ish but didn't look outside till I left for work at 7.30, couldn't believe it. Never experienced anything like this before.

My daughter says it's really overcast in Long Beach too but not nearly as bad as some of the photos I see posted here.

And, yeah, Jana says that breathing the soot from the fires in is the worst. She used to hate it. The hills around Orange were always on fire every summer when she lived there. But the closest they ever got to her though was when she was a student at Chapman University & they shut down classes & evacuated the dorms for a few days. She said that was pretty scary.

My boss was living in Saratoga during those fires a while back and still has PTSD from that, bless her. So she has that, and me never having experienced this we're both being a crutch for each other I guess. ONly reason I've been evacuated is because our data centre is in one of the buildings and is touchy temperature wise.
That really must have been really scary for Jana. I really should think about putting a bag of essentials in the car, I know where we live we will be fine but it's a matter of not being able to get home potentially. Very much doubt that would happen but still sensible I guess if I have to sleep in the office or whatever. Think it's getting a lot better though. I swear there may be road rage on my way home if I see another bastard flinging a cigarette out of the window again though.

Yup. Very odd looking out at it. It's like looking through a filter.
Other half's at home and just ate lunch with the main big lights on because he could barely see. I'm not looking forward to the drive home if it keeps getting worse. Seeing everyone driving past with headlights on is so weird.

My car looks like it got a fine dusting of snow today.....sadly it's ash :(

Humidity? I thought California didn't have that?

Yep, packing a bag might not be a bad idea.

Just be careful driving home, OK? Especially with the current conditions.

I'm super careful on the motorways here, always see pile ups, and people cutting each other up all the time. I sound like a real square but I always know about stopping distances etc, I don't want to get side swiped because some idiot is a couple of minutes late for work. And the majority of the time it's women being the dicks, haha. Not helping the women being bad drivers thing is it?! Worst outside of NJ, the Bay Area. Flippin nutters.
