California: Hispanics now the relative majority

uh oh. this is going to turn into a hispanic-hate thread lol. as a hispanic who lives in california, it was evident that this would happen. now, people shouldn't be alarmed, or get upset about this. most hispanics assimilate to the american way of life. i'm an example of it. and the trend will continue.

in time, hispanics are going to be seen like the italians who immigrated more than one-hundred years ago. it will become less of an issue over time.

difference is when italians came here, they wanted to be part of america. most of the mexicans coming here still have allegience to mexico. they thumb their nose at america. they just want to take advantage of the benefits

My brother lived in Mexico for a year and it was the income disparity and corruption that really stood out to us. I've never felt safer bribing a cop than in Mexico but the income disparity in India is probably the worst I've ever personally seen.

Well according to the World Bank, South Africa is the country with the highest income inequality among countries (developed enough to run the numbers).

In Mexico is exceptionally well seen though, because the poorest states usually are prime tourist destinations.

A country I have not yet been to.

LOL, because they cheered for Canelo vs Mayweather? thats as far as mexican pride and nationalism go.

Or, in reality, Italians came to the US, lived (not entirely by choice) in communities that were largely strictly Italian, continued to speak Italian, had reduced employment opportunities and were discriminated against (i.e. "dirty wops"), and became highly involved in criminal organizations while still identifying as Italian by descent.

Sound like any other groups?

I really wasn't kidding when I mentioned that Gangs of New York might actually be informative for some of you idiots.

Thanks for answering my first question so thoroughly.

Take this next question as coming from a place of good faith and genuinely not trying to stoke any negative sentiments because most of my life has been spent around 1st gen Mexican immigrants and illegals but...

We know a handyman who has come to be a legal, naturalized citizen of the U.S. and he would tell us that there is a large contingent of Mexicans that feel like they are taking the American south back for Mexico, and that it always should have been a part of their country. Have you ever encountered people that think this way?

No, the vast majority are smart enough to realize that if California was Mexican it would be a shithole like the rest of the country.

Im pretty sure that if Californians were to vote a referendum to join Mexico, 99.99% of the mexicans who were born and raised in Mexico will vote "fucking no".

If i was to vote as a mexican for a referendum to have the lost territory back, i would also vote no, that would just send the American border further away from where i am.

That's liberalism for you, same thing is happening in Europe with muslims. They are just sitting back and watching millions walk into a country and erode the freedoms and values their ancestors fought for.

No one is more anti immigration than me, but Mexicans now a days are pretty assimilated, it wasn't always so. There used to be talk of CA being Mexico, then people reminded them of what Mexico is like, and that talk died down a lot. I think it's silly to compare Mexicans who come here to work and live in peace to Muslims who come to Europe talking about sharia law and nonsense like that. Mexicans are Christians so there aren't the same problems.

Not true at all, Italians and others basically formed their own communities and considered themselves Italian. Mexicans assimilate quicker now a days than Italians and others did back then. Pretty much every second generation Mexican has no intention of living in Mexico, they know that they have it better here.

So in one post you state that it is easier for a minority college graduate to get a job and in a subsequent one dismiss evidence showing otherwise.

You know, there's actually very compelling experimental data out there showing what the effects of just having an "african-american name" has on job prospects even with better qualifications.

As a head hunter, if I see 2 candidates who are equally qualified but one has a black name I tend to see the other person get the job more often than not. I'm just speaking from personal experience but it happens. A black candidate without the black name has a better shot because they are probably seen as less problematic.

Lol this again!

my god. i guess it has to be repeated again: they are the minority. most mexicans assimilate into the american culture. you are talking about the adults and older-folks who are already set in their ways. those are the people who don't assimilate. that, i admit. but when you look at their kids, who were born-and-raised in the u.s., they speak english, play the same sports, and listen to the same music that every other american does. and trust me, there were plenty of older italians who were similar.

some of you have this distorted view of mexican immigrants. and it's unfair to folks like myself, who adapted to the american culture. and quite honestly, speaks the language far better than most.

Me and my friend went to El Salvador vs Canada game on Wednesday. I Wore the jersey of El Salvador and so did my friend. To some people here we must be some anti-Americas trying to claim California for Hispanics. Only little do they know we both are former Marines. We own guns and are homeowners. We are middle class. We pay taxes and celebrate 4th of July. We American as apple pie.

Edit: I also own a Labrador.

i know that you weren't directing this question to me, but i have some experience with this. yes, there are those mexicans who do feel this way. and trust me, they're really moronic. they are the folks who cannot get over the past, and haven't come to terms with the mexican-american war. but there aren't many of them, and they're seen as a joke.

Yeah Little Italy was never created and still doesn't exist to this day. You know the place where most of the Italian immigrants first settled when they got off the boat, to stick to themselves and keep all their old Italian traditions alive.

Hell this was Little Italy during the world cup, over 100 years since Italians have long been "assimilated" into America:
Littleitaly_worldcup.JPG

That looks like a whole lot of allegiance to another country right in the middle of NYC.

You just sound like a typical ignorant Stormfronter as usual.

Everyone that disagrees with me is a racist!

nah, just you, and that guy, and Atheist, and Ripwarrior, and logicalinsanity. That's all i can remember right now, i know there's a few i'm missing.

"Because a minority with a degree is a shoo-in to fill somebody's diversity quota. Your average white person? Not so much. I would assume there may also be a different view of what constitutes success between theses groups."

Which is it? Are we "shoo-ins"? Or does it depend on the degree? Are we just on par with Asians, and employed more than blacks?

You went from saying that we assimilate to "ghetto" culture to crying about us earning college degrees and acquiring jobs.

It's obvious that you speak from your culo.

Its almost as if you don't live in the real world with the rest of us.
Well, like everything else, including college degrees, there are other factors to consider. There are obviously major differences in racial hiring between the public and private sectors. And even within the private sector there would be differences based on the field of work. But if we look at say, the federal workforce, blacks are significantly overrepresented. And illogic, that was another poster talking about ghetto culture, get your shit together and don't attribute things to me that I haven't said.

Why dont you put a link so i can check it myself?
Do you know how to use a search engine FFS? I'm not your teacher, I gave you an example and gave you all the relevant information you need to find a source within seconds.

No you didnt.

You say that hispanics cant possible integrate into white culture because of a shitload of inconsequential things which you contradict in every single spot.

Its ok, you can say your opinion, this is an anonymous forum, hispanics can never integrate into white culture because they are mixed with indians and blacks.
Please point out my contradictions if you're going to make that argument.

No, without a link you gave a piece of opinion, and considering your "minorities like education because they benefit more from it" blunder ill need more than your word for it. No amount of google-fu will allow me to find information that only exists in your head

Please point out my contradictions if you're going to make that argument.

How can i make an argument if you use ambigueties like "other reasons", the only argument you have made is that Mexico is close and thats what differentiates, Mexicans from other waves.

And contradiction was the wrong word, the word i was looking for is flip-flop and was talking more about how people perceive education.
