Law Cain Velazquez arrested for shooting.

Wow. Thats a big fall from grace for him.

Not one of the fighters I would have though would be involved in something like this.
Will see. Who knows what it’s about though
If he is guilty of misdoings I’m sure it’s due to his back. Dude was always injured and could have developed a pain reliever habit.
Still. Would like to see the charges and the case brought out before actual judgement

Anyone know the self defense laws in that area? I've a hard time believing Cain would feel in imminent threat of serious bodily harm/or/death if the victim was not packing or wielding a weapon.

If little Ryan Hall could subdue this guy so easily, why couldn't Cain?

I hope there is a logical explanation for this, but not looking god that he is being held without bail.

Did they arrest anyone else? If he was defending hiimself from a guy with a firearm, I can see them arresting BOTH Velasquez and the other guy until they get to the bottom of what happened. But no one else has been arrested.

Genuinely surprised. Cain always seemed pretty grounded IMO. Granted, we don't the details of what happened yet.

No one else has been arrested, but the guy was in the hospital.

I imagine at this point it will have to be self defense, the question then becomes was it valid? If the other guy did not brandish a gun or a knife, he may have a hard time getting off. Heck, there are even recent cases where the victims where brandishing a knife or weapon but the shooter got charged.

Or so it seemed. Coming from New England, it always seemed like Aaron Hernandez was grounded, hard working, and a family orientated team player......then it turned out he lead a separate crime filled and gang banging life. Many times you just never know what goes on behind closed doors. NGL, that tattoo was always a giant red flag tho - one simply does not get that type of tattoo unless they run with some pretty sketchy dudes.

and I care what your opinion is, why exactly? Or are you gonna report again?
It's not an opinion.
Glad you have another shooting story to get excited about in retirement as you continue living out your cop-dreams.

He's a celebrity. Probably some lunatic who lost money on him, or a fan of one of his opponents. Didn't Bruce Lee say something about always carrying a gun because of people challenging him? I have a hard time believing a champion with a champion's discipline just shooting a guy over something petty.

yeah, velasquez is not going to be treated well by the justice system if the other guy did not have a weapon of any kind. The whole equal force thing.

Question - If someone drew a firearm on velasquez, velasquez drew his own firearm in self defense and shot the guy, sending him to the hospital, when would the police arrest the guy? See above.

Yah, Im not sure how that works. I know people like the Boston bomber was treated for serious injuries but under arrest at the same time. Maybe because Cain was the only one that did shooting, the police are investigating? As with the Kyle Rittenhouse situation, even tho he was eventually found innocent, only he was booked......that did make me wonder why the people he shot/shot at were never booked......if he was found innocent of defending himself against a lethal threat, shouldn't they be charged with assault and imposing that threat upon him?

People with a history of brain damage from pro sports sadly don't always act rationally either.
Hopefully it's not the case

Unfortunately a very fair point

Yes, definitely they should've been charged. But that was one of the most hyper-politicized trials of all time. I'm just curious what the SOP is for most police departments. That's why I asked the cop above.

if true, it doesnt really surprise me

the mexican gangbangers in california are a weird bunch. You get some dudes that work their ass off during work hours, then no longer show up for work because they're in jail. Fantastic work ethic, and alternate lifestyle...............

But is a crazy fan reason to shoot them? Could he not escape or neutralize the threat without putting a bullet in/trying to kill them? Kyle Rittenhouse, a kid, got chased by a gang of men, some with guns, and still nearly got life in prison and the prosecutor was arguing that he should have fought the full grown men and risked an ass kicking and assumed they would not have taken his gun and used it on him. It is my understanding that Cali is much more strict with gun laws than hyper-liberal California.

What if his wife and children were there? You know as little as I do at the moment, so we can both spin out scenarios at will. I choose to believe Cain is of sound mind and judgement, until the facts come out.
