Cain Velasquez punching power

he's not pillow fisted nor is he a huge puncher. He has good power but he's not the biggest puncher by any means.
 
In the Big Nog fight, Mike Goldberg said "punches hard".
I guess that settles it.

The issue there was the Kongo fight which was mostly on the ground, his offence there is limited in power compared to someone like Fedor because he tends to stay closer to opponents unless he has them hurt.
 
I wouldn't call him pillow fisted like Bisping but he's no Mark Hunt either. JDS is known for having a great chin and he concussed him pretty seriously a few times(also Big Nog), but that was indeed after JDS had already taken significant punishment. He has good power but not 1-shot Mark Hunt or JDS power.
 
There is general misconception out there about 1 punch power, some guy's definetely have it, but not as many as you think. If you look at boxing for example, a lot of times that guy's get KO:d with what seems to 1 punch, they have already been hit and hurt several times during the fight....the very different format of the sports makes the endings due to punches very different as well.
 
Cain is not a big puncher. Never was. I don't know why people rate Cain here so highly. The thing he was/is really good at in Mma is cardio. His wrestling is fine but he won fights on cardio which is a good strategy at HW

You guys give him too much hype and have over his whole UFC run

Nah, off the top of my head Hunto put Tuchsherer and Big Country to sleep with walkways. And broke Struve's jaw leaving him a dribbling mess for weeks.

And I predict in another 5 years Fedor will start being compared to that generation or why he isn't fighting those guys. The man is coming out of a 3 year retirement and is close to 40 yet people on here act like he's 30 and wasting his prime and afraid of the ufc. Whatever he does from here on out isn't effecting anything or what he did in Pride a decade ago. And anyone thinking he isn't still dangerous or has the weapons to beat any hw on any given night know nothing about the fight game.

I would say that Stojnic fight would be even bigger 'issue' and fuel to the 'pillow' fire.

Ref stopped it mostly because Stojnic had eaten up like 392 punches, not because he was stunned or badly damaged.
 
All HW hit hard but Cain is not a power puncher like JDS or Roy Nelson.

Cain put down JDs, Hunt nor Nelson did...as stated not many one punch k.os in UFc or MMa in general...who hits the hardest is also not entirely easy to substantiaite with certain styles...just look at all of cains wins by t.k.o ..he has more than Fedor and still you have some on here debating weather he hits hard?:rolleyes:

Theres nothing hype at all defeating JDS twice! Fedor and co. have never defeated a guy that dangerous...EVER!

Yeah, I don't know where people are getting the impression that Cain is pillow fisted like Bisping. He has enough power to seriously concuss JDS, as well as KO Big Nog(WAY past his prime Nog in his defense) and Bigfoot(twice). He is more of a volume puncher than a KO artist as others have said but he has good power along with good hand speed & timing.
 
There are no professional fighters who have pillow fists. This entire thread is nonsense.
