I read that Cain Velasquez will receive the next title shot unless he loses to Travis Browne at UFC 200. Well, even if he wins, he doesn't deserve that title shot until he proves he's capable of fighting on a full time schedule. He's been a part time fighter recently, having fought only once in the last two and a half years! Think about it. The man hasn't been healthy enough to work more than once in the last two and a half years and they're thinking of giving him a shot at the most important title in the sport? The fans of The UFC deserve better. There have been 3 times in his career that he has gone over a year without working even once! That is not championship material, not until he demonstrates he can work consistently on a full time schedule.

Honestly he needs to fight a few times back to back without pulling out for me to have any faith in him. I like his style, but he has a problem with his training.

He'll get a title shot regardless, IMO.

He shouldn't get another rematch scheduled until he actually gets in the ring with someone not named JDS, Bigfoot, or Werdum.

This fight with Browne is a start, let's see if it stays intact.

"Frankie, tell Luca to go outside and do you know what."

If Reem wins I would give him the shot over Cain. I wouldn't mind seeing Cain getting a couple of back to back wins as long as he NEVER fights JDS again.

It would be nice to see Cain active and fighting again. He should be forced to put together a few wins in a decent time frame, like more than one a year.

You are right TS. I was actually rooting for Cain in his upcoming fight, but thinking of the outcome, I hope he loses against Browne now.

Exactly. The champion can't be just a part time fighter and that's what Cain has been. He needs to prove he can work a full time schedule. Why give a title shot to a guy who hasn't demonstrated he's robust enough to defend the title on a regular basis?

what about fabricio? he hasn't fought in almost a year.

I tend to agree...

I wish he could stay healthy. Cain should have to fight the winner of Overeem/Arlovski if he beats Browne.

Overeem is getting a title shot end of story, hes the most impressive and skilled HW in mma.

Cain is certainly a risky prospect to allow near the belt. He's game against anyone you put him in the cage with, but his history of injuries make him a less than desirable champion to rest your belt on.

I agree, unfortunately the UFC seems set on putting him back into a title fight asap. I expect them to pull the trigger if he whoops Browne.

I am huge Cain fain and I just want to see him fight! I don't care if its for the belt I would just love to see him active as Cowboy. Dude had the potential to clean the HW division but not sure now with all the injuries.

I cannot be excited for a Cain fight until the glove touch. Obviously the UFC really wants him to be champ... for some reason not to do with actually defending the belt.

Legit points abound in this thread. Cain will almost always have my support for the ass-whooping he laid on Brock Lesnar back in 2010. Shit was magical.

Cain needs to change his training style and his eating habits. He weighs around 260 lbs in the off-time due to eating a ton of food (just check his instagram); mexican food 2-3 times a day and other meals in between. Then he trains like a savage to get down to 245 lbs. Add all the bad form weight training and wrestling wars in the gym and everything is self-explanatory.

Totally agree. Cain looked awful against Werdum. I want to know that the injuries haven't caught up with him.

He has to perform this in front of the commission before signing a fight.
