Cain Velasquez appreciation thread

He's still in his prime ..... he just battling one of the worst injuries that a pro athlete can suffer.Herniated discs in your back can be operated on but the success rate of an athlete coming back 100% (especially a cage fighter) aren't like other injuries.
This injury has done in alot of pro athletes or regressed their performance enormously afterwards.

I also know from personal experience where I have several herniations of my back (4) and lowest one is the killer....and I 've broken just about every part of my body through sports.bones heal and get just as strong as they were.

This shit again? Healthy Cain doesn't exist. He hasn't been healthy enough to fight more than once a year since 2013. He doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the HW title until he proves he can win a fight without having to get another major surgery.

I'm hoping he's fully recovered from all those injuries & slowed down his training so we see a 2018 return.

A healthy Cain is easily a candidate for best MMA Heavyweight.

Based on what? A win over Travis Browne and getting embarrassed by Werdum?

You and everybody knows Cain didn't fight at his best. He gassed in one round lol. Maybe the 2yr layoff effected him or the high elevation.

Or the fact that he fought like an absolute idiot and didn't pace himself at all while running into face punches and knees to the body. That fight... I'm gonna call it a Mulligan cuz there was never any precedent for it before or since but man, did he look terrible in that one. Mind you, it may be a case of Werdum looking really good too.

Doctors love him.

Reminded me of twinkle toes penn where I just had to ask what are you doing?

Heh, yeah there are some eerie parallels there. The 1800's Fighting Irish perfectly upright boxing stance was... words fail me, really.

Healthy sea level Cain beats everyone

Healthy sea level Cain vs kettle bell pride Fedor =

can't believe there's people idiot enough to believe someone that got dominated by Werdum and just beat a washed up 5 lose streak Browne will be champ again, if he ever fights again he gets beat by Miocic, Ngannou, Werdum or Blaydes
i wouldn't count Volkov, Hunt and Overeem off

When has Cain ever paced himself? He has gone multiple rounds with no cardio issues before that 2yr layoff. Come on man lol.

Cain threads make me sad.

What might have been, greatly overshadows what was.

Cain's claim to fame mainly stems from beating Brock and having a great style to beat JDS, a guy otherwise extremely dangerous.

Outside that "healthy GOAT Cain", a creature only seen for a few moments in history, is phantasy talk.
Bigfoot was considered one of the best HWs after beating Fedor, pre-Edmund Browne and Ubereem.

Nog was still a decent fighter.

Healthy Cain was awesome. Gas Tank to go 5 hard rounds. To bad injuries have taken away most of his prime...

yeah, thanks for ruining both yourself and jds, cain. I really appreciate it

Who is this Cain fellow everyone here is talking about?

He the guy that werdum beat the shit out of?

I believe in Cain Velasquez. I still think healthy Cain beats everyone.
The only thing about Cain is no one can know for sure if he's still in his prime, the last time we saw him he looked good but again that was almost two years ago.
