If Cain Velasquez wasn't so injury prone...do you think he would have surpassed Fedor as the greatest heavyweight that ever lived?Cain Velasquez is an absolute BEAST when he's healthy but unfortunately his injuries have kept him from fulfilling his potential and possibly his legacy...but let's just say he was always a healthy fighter.....would he have been able to pull it off?

I think Werdum would have sub him anyway, he is just a bad matchup for him
If not, I'm not sure if he can beat Econoreem, it would be a very competitive fight

We will never know I guess.

I doubt Cain can go for another big run.

Injury problems usually get worst with time.

If he can stay injury free he still has time. A healthy Cain can go on a serious and violent run.

It's nearly impossible to tell, but I don't think so. He only fought three guys as champ and has losses to two of them.

But he's made up the loss against JDS....I wonder if a prime Fedor would have been able to beat Junior

Who knows, but a 30 fight win streak at HW is hard to beat. That is 3 fights per year for 10 years, winning them all.

I think Cain also struggles with grapplers, and is probably a little onedimensional.

I don't know about him being one dimensional because he has fairly decent striking and obviously he's great at wrestling but I agree 10 years is very hard to beat....at any weight class

His wrestling is very good, but it seems he struggles with grapplers, and then without the fear of the takedown his striking is not that good.

The only grappler he struggled with was Werdum...I see no shame in that

TS, if Overreem had a chin or if Jared Rosholt had any skills or if GSP was 70 lbs heavier, do you think they would have surpassed as Fedor as the greatest HW that ever lived?

No shame in that, you are right. I would want to see him against someone like Arlovski or Overeem that both have the submissiongame and are good on the feet.

Damn.... 2 days, 245 posts, countless threads..... you're the new sherdog hero

Cain had the potential for sure. His problem has inactivity and fighting the same guys over and over. He's been in the sport 10 years and only has 16 fights with 5 of those being the same opponents. Fedor on the other hand had 34 fights by this time.

I really want to see how he matches up to a variety of styles and I think that's a big reason why he lost to Werdum because he never fought someone with Muay Thai before. Cain is great he was a victim of injuries, circumstance, inactivity, poor booking and possibly mis-management.
