First off, I've always thought prime DC would beat prime Cain. I thought Cormier had better wrestling, more power in his hands, and a better chin (Cain has a decent chin but great recovery, not a granite chin like Big Nog or Hunt).

Because of DC's friendship with Cain he went to LHW where he reigned supreme aside from Jon Jones. I've said it before but I'll say it again, the UFC's current HW division is anemic and shallow as it's ever been. You have a bunch of old, past their prime fighters like Hunt, Overeem, and Arlovski, and a bunch of younger, not as skilled up-and-comers like Ngannou and Derrick Lewis. Does anyone ever think a Ngannou or Lewis will be as great as Fedor or Big Nog or rack up a record like they did? So much for the new breed. Stipe seems like a really decent guy but skillswise, he's not great. Decent boxing with decent wrestling and an unknown ground game. He isn't lethal anywhere, he's not a 1 hitter quitter like a Hunt or Hendo, and he's not a BJJ ace like Mir or Big Nog. And no, his 1 punch KO of a stupid Werdum rushing into his fist isn't proven 1 punch KO power.

I think DC could have won and defended both the LHW and HW straps this entire time he's been LHW champion.

Granted, DC only went to LHW because of Cain so he may have stayed at HW if Cain wasn't at HW, but if Cain hadn't been around Cormier could have won both the LHW and HW belts and defended them simultaneously.

Who disagrees?

Disagree. If DC and Cain weren't friends then DC would have just fought HW and never would have even thought about 205.

There's no guarantee that DC would have beaten a somewhat prime JDS, Werdum or even Overeem. The superfight allowed him to skip climbing the ranks and his competition at heavyweight prior to his drop to 205 was average at best.

DC could have been the GOAT HW but Can held him back

Cain ruined the HW division for years, DC's legacy, and his knees.
