Cable or Streaming?

Buy an Apple TV 4K streaming box to connect to TV via HDMI (needs either ethernet or wifi), search the App Store for stuff like MAX, Disney+, Paramount+, Freevee, Pluto, HULU, VUDU and create an account. May as well wait to see if there's any New Years discounted prices like quite a few had for Black Friday. You can listen to podcasts too.

I don't like Apple. And I am boycotting Disney.

Any other suggestions?

You know cable is ON several streaming services for way less money than buying cable.. right?

I have an app with over 1000 channels, thousands of streaming movies and shows, more sports channels than I give a shit about.

It's like 15% of what I used to pay for cable. With more channels and better features and streaming.

I get youtube tv for a couple of months a year for sports. outside of live sports, I am amazed that there is nothing on basic cable that I am interested in watching. I ended up watching some old Law & Order episodes from the 90's. Shout out to Claire Kincaid

Roku player is what I like to use. I used Firesticks in the past, but I just don't like their remote control. Roku also has their own built in TV to watch as well, and there are some good original shows on there.

For the stuff I used to find on cable channels like the History channel, AMC, MTV, etc., the Philo service is pretty good. It's only $25/month and has cloud DVR if you want to save/record shows. The only thing missing from it is sports and local channels, but I just use the network apps for that.

Neither.

Streaming is for people who aren't going to watch youtube all day and require cable like structure. Streaming didn't kill cable so much as its trying to monetize as many cable cutters as possible.

Get over the anti-Apple stance or if you have shitty Spectrum, I think they are now giving away free XUMO box, so if you get to keep it if you cancel, I assume it should work like Apple TV, but using some other operating system. They say the Apple TV has more horsepower than the small streaming sticks you plug into TV. I've seen people complain about problems with the sticks, maybe overheating with no heat management. I think XUMO might be another free w/ads streaming service like Pluto, Freevee. The first time browsing it though, it only seemed like straight to DVD stuff from Blockbuster. No big name movies. VUDU has free movies and shows with ads. Jailbait was there free.

If you like superhero stuff, MAX has tons of the cartoon movies and live action movies. MAX also has this UK show called Naked Attraction and some Naked Attraction best of highlight show. There's this blonde contestant named Charlotte with very nice smile, fantastic body, no tattoos.

If you buy movies on disc, seems like iTunes or VUDU are the common places they make you choose from to redeem digital movies. Moviesanywhere digital redemptions can link with Apple to let you watch from both places, but only if they both offer the movie.

There's another free with ads streaming service, but owned by FOX so I'm not installing it even though I think they have GI Joe cartoon.

If you have digital anime where digital version is with Funimation, you cannot watch on Apple TV app, but only via computer. Some of them are in Apple's weekly sales for $4.99 each.

I have several Roku and 1 Firestick in my house, they are pretty cheap. I don't know about the Apple thingee, but there are options out there. And can't you connect your PC to the TV like a monitor without any of those? I've considered getting a PC tower to do this and use my 55" TV (90", wow) as a monitor when I'm browsing the internet.
Also, can't your "smart" TV connect directly to the streaming apps? Mine can, but it is limited, and I don't like the interface.
I'd rather not power up the computer each time I want to watch something. The computer often treats me like I need to make an advance appointment when I want to use the computer (makes me wait a long time because Microsoft is doing some resource intensive shit that takes sometimes hours, or has some bug or corrupted file that causes CPU usage to peak and not let me do anything else).

I also like having my digital movie copies available at my fingertips on Apple TV box from maybe three diff providers.
