buying 2 steaks for 3$

You just bought 2 pieces of cheap meat, that's all. Right at the level of ground meat.

You should have just brought a pound of hamburger. Your friend probably thought you had good steaks and was disappoint when you pulled out the cheap meat.

I usually go to Vons and get 3/4 lb sirloin steaks for around $5.50. They always come out great.

Sounds like a good way to never get invited a BBQ ever.

Reminds of the time when we had a going away party for my buddy that was moving away. It was a really nice party we had catering from one of those fancy food trucks. Every is bringing stuff, good home cooked food, top shelf liquor and/or money to pay for the catering. I invite a mutual friend and tell him to bring something. The fuckin guy brings an already open pack of Bud Lite (not bottles but the mini sized cans, think regular pepsi cans but even smaller). I was like man, I should have never invited this moran.

Just to clarify the steaks were for me not my friend. He already ate I was just using his BBQ

Steak? as a cut piece of meat from an animal? I don't care if its thin or tough its steak. Great bargain imo. People in this thread talking like it would be rejected from third world countries, get real those 2 dollar steaks probably have more nutrition than their entire daily allotment.

You see it the same way I do. Maybe we r just not picky

Cube steak should cost more. It's like a mosaic. It's gotta take forever to put them together piece by piece like that.

Well, then, the next time I'm in a 3rd world country, I'll jump at the first pair of $3 steaks I see. Some of you guys desperately need an introduction...

All depends on the cut. Some of the cheaper cuts of meat, are the most flavorful.

Up until a few years ago, you could get dirt cheap skirt steak, flat iron, ect... for $2 a pound. Now these are in cuts and are $10 a pound.

I got in on the flat iron thing just before they got expensive here. Pretty damn good when it's cheap. They actually went up like 2 bucks last fall here.

Spot on. Flank Steak is another cut that tends to fluctuate in price.

I now buy the whole sections of the cow from a butcher shop. Learn the basics about the cuts, then do them your self. You'll spend $50, but end up with $300 in cut steaks.

Do you have to know your cuts? How about just cutting a piece off and throwing it on the fire barbarian style

Who needs to cut a piece off or cook it? just wrap your mouth around the whole raw meat slab and go to town right in front of the butcher

i wouldn't even use that piece of cheap meat for a milk steak boiled hard

Besides being a little tough what is wrong with cheap steak? Does it have other bad qualities I'm not aware if

Taste is subjective. If you enjoyed them that's all that matters.

Cube steak isn't typically grilled though.
