Just because there's footage of someone doesn't necessarily mean that you know exactly what to expect when you fight them. Tank and Roach had sparred before and fought in the amateurs where Tank was 2-0 against him. But when they actually fought in the pros Roach should've had his hand raised at the end of the night. He had all of the answers for Tank. Every fight is different. Not only was Ruiz a short notice opponent it was Joshua's first time fighting in the States. All of the pressure was on him. There was footage of the guy. It wasn't UFC 1. It was a short notice fight though

I'll say it again. Usyk has never been considered a puncher at cruiserweight or heavyweight. He's only dropped a couple guys at heavyweight and stopped a couple (Witherspoon & Dubois). Fury could've and probably should've been stopped in the first fight but the ref allowed him to continue and he managed to recover. Usyk is an out-boxer that only started to sit down on his shots more out of necessity once he moved up to heavyweight. Usyk has said himself that he doesn't really want to hurt his opponents. He just wants to outbox them.I cant find the quote now but you say Usyk isnt a puncher, despite not taking into account that his gloves are for blocking. They arent a punchers gloves at all. he has the weakest possible gloves for power.
The heavy bag work he had with punchers glove gave a different picture to me as where he belongs on that spectrum

He's had enough for us to judge his punching power. It's underrated but he's not a puncher. If he wasn't even a puncher at cruiser then he's not going to be one at heavyweight against giants that are so much bigger than he is. Not unless Usyk was draining himself to make cruiser and he wasn't. Fury's chin is average at best. He's been dropped like 7 times in his professional career. What he has is special recovery. He hasnt had that many fights at heavyweights.
Fury has one of the best chins in the division, and Usyk had him almost out of there.
Usyk overwhelmed him with his speed & combination punching. Both knockdowns in that fight were Dubois voluntarily taking a knee. He quit he didn't get knocked out.Dubios has a very strong chin too
Ali was dropped several times also and had a great chin. There are plenty of reasons for why someone can get dropped but still be fine in the head. He's had enough for us to judge his punching power. He wasn't dropped that many times even though he had a much longer career and fought way better opposition than Fury. Fury's been dropped by guys that are genuinely feather-fisted like Pajkic.Ali was dropped several times also and had a great chin. Yeah, Usyk once flattened a guy that had already been knocked out. He hurt him initially and then followed up for the KO. Notice that he pendulum stepped in with a rear hook to get him out of there. Anyone can generate power by stepping in like that.He goes for volume over power until he ceases on the opportunity. He flattened Bellew whos only gotten knocked out by Adonis Stevenson who is a KO artist.

thats what usually happensHe hurt him initially and then followed up for the KO
Oh really? Well, you're impressed more by Usyk's KO of Bellew than Bellew himself. Maybe listen to people that know what they're talking about next time?I dont buy it. He lulls his opponents into thinking he doesnt punch hard. And he uses gloves for blocking that further adds to that illusion.

“He’s not the biggest puncher. It’s a stiff [punch]. He gets your respect. Haye was the one who had the most power. I’m certain on that.”
Bellew Delivers Honest Verdict On Usyk’s Power After Brutal KO
Thats in boxing lingo a hard punch. If you say someone has a stiff punch, that means they punch hard. It’s a stiff [punch].
False. Bellew said that it was stiff rather than hard and that Usyk "wasn't the biggest puncher" meaning he isn't really a puncher. I've followed Usyk since he was an amateur. He's never been a hard puncher instead he's sharp with fast, accurate, well-timed shots, good combos and counterpunching.Thats in boxing lingo a hard punch. We also have footage of Usyk's fights. He isn't a puncher otherwise he'd be dropping guys (even if they're much bigger) much more regularly and stopping them. His main objective is to control the fight and win it's not to damage his opponents by constantly throwing with bad intentions. Usyk's power is underrated but that doesn't make him a puncher. It just means that he hits harder than he's generally credited for. This is no different than saying a guy is deceptively quick without calling him fast.Frazier wasnt the biggest puncher either, that doesnt mean the guy wasnt a puncher. its all relative.
We have the tape on the heavy bag. It was hard shots on it, and the glove in that clip was made for punching. The gloves he wears in fights are oven mitts. Terrible for power.
