Well, this is why officers will use the gun over the taser in certain situations. Fortunately, the guy in the video wasn't charging them at the time. If the guy was charging, the taser would have been a poor choice.

They hit him multiple times and he's still going.

So we should ban these ineffective tools from police use?
In the situation where the guy wasn't charging, then the use of the taser is probably preferred. This video is an example of why it's NOT a good idea to use the taser when the suspect if charging the cop because it doesn't always take down the suspect.

Sounds good. The first few bullets don't always do the trick either. Good to have options.

That's probably why cops don't shoot a few times and stop. They shoot until the threat has stopped. Oh, you didn't know?

Good to know which weapons call for certain situations.

If someone has a deadly weapon, you don't go within taser range.

was waiting for that guy to hulk out while he was growling

The problem isn't whether to use guns or tasers. The problem is the over aggression and needless escalation. Most of these encounters can be solved with 10 minutes of talking. WTF is the cop moving forward like that? You have an a guy feeling cornered on an adrenaline high. Talk to him for 10 minutes, once the adrenaline wears off the chances of him simply sitting down and surrendering are damn good. Its what happens in the vast majority of countries.

Its even safer for the cop, if the cop isn't moving forward hes not putting himself in greater danger and hes not provoking the guy to decide to charge. Fewer bullets going flying around civilians, and what might just be a mental episode of some type doesn't get a needlessly killed.

They demonstrated much restraint.

Not sure I'd have been that patient with civilians that close.
