Burns would wreck Colby so bad

we're going to get to see that fight eventually.

Leon is getting steamrolled by Colby and Gilbert is next or 1 away

Colby has 1 good win in his entire career and it was 5 years ago. The way his fans talk about him is insane, they discuss his skills like he’s GSP lol

I’ve never seen a boring, cardio fighter with 0 power and 0 sub ability so celebrated.

One good win? You’re a special kind of idiot. Extreme exaggerations in an idiotic attempt to make whatever point you’re trying to conjure up in your deluded mind is a terrible look.

masvidal is old and washed. Burns ain’t beating Colby or Leon. If he couldn’t submit Masvidal how is he submitting Colby? A guy who’s a way better grappler?

Why would he need to submit Colby? He could KO him.

He should have won against Usman on paper too. No idea why he performed the way he did that night. I remember him just resting on the floor for an entire round. What the hell was that about?

Jorge is barely over 500 the last decade amd a 500 fighter the past 9 years. He was a diaz type of fighter., But not someone who could make a run. The only fight where he looked awesome in some time is Nate. The had fluke ko on askren and till fight pulled out ko. Till not showing he was worth the hype leading up to that. I hate colby but he has cardio forever and he has heart. He took an enormous amount of punishment in Kamara fight and kept coming.
True. Since may of 2017…jorge has gone 3-9, props to jorge for being able to milk his way to 2 title shots and millions of dollars while losing like that.

Colby has never looked bad against anyone and was right up there with usman for nearly 50 minutes and won many rounds. People just hate his persona so they shit on his skills. But u cant deny his fighting abilities.

Is burns standup good? It kind of looks like shit. But what do I know?
It's come a long way. He hits hard but I doubt he has enough guile to find the openings to finish Colby, and with Leon he is just all sorts of outmatched on the feet.

Defensively he is just not good enough to hang with elite strikers. He can't get out of the way of a decent jab. Both Usman and Khamzat dropped him with jabs, and they are basically decent at best on the feet.

A younger Masvidal would have given him fits.

I think Burns matches up stylistically well with Colby, depending on how the grappling would go. I don't see submissions from bottom helping him out, but if Burns's grappling fights off Colbys wrestling or if he pushes the takedowns himself, I think he wins. Granted, Colby throws a lot more volume, so I'd expect him to get a lot of his (weak) strikes in, which Gil would have to be careful not to lose rounds for, but he should win overall.

Not so easy to just say Burns matches Colby everywhere, though. The styles are very different, and there's people Colby would have an easier time with than Burns

At least burns tests himself against elite fighters and feared up and comers. What's Colby's best performance? Two losses to Usman? His best win was against dos anjos, a past his prime Lightweight, who took him down repeatedly after Colby slowed down in the third. Colby still wok but that fight was way closer than it should have been. You think Gilbert can't recreate that performance?
You realize they've fought like 4 of the same opponents right? Their most recent wins are both the same guy

I really doubt that Burns finishes Covington. His ground game isn't THAT lethal and I don't think he can KO Covington. It'd be a sloppy 3 or 5 round fight where either guy could take the W

I don't think his standup is better at all, I think the only thing he has over Colby is power. Colby has looked better in standup against all of their common opponents so far, and on the ground also. Controlled Woodley and Masvidal way better and landed good ground and pound, better chin, better cardio, only danger for Colby is playing too much on the ground, but he was smart enough to keep it standing against Maia, and he handled RDA well enough, so I don't know if Gilbert would even be all that dangerous to him. I know Colby doesn't really have submissions, but in MMA he looks like the better grappler.

Kind of a waste of time to even discuss this because Colby would never take the fight, that should be clear to anyone who has paid any sort of attention to this sport over the last few years

In a 5 round fight Colby would wreck Burns and it’s not even close. Burns gets worn out by the pace Colby forces his opponents in the 2nd round.

Well this is sherdog, where we just pick who we like better and reverse engineer some argument for why they're better. Burns TKO'd Maia 3 years ago, so clearly he'd KO the guy with 1 5th round TKO loss in his career of fighting bigger punchers.

No, this is pure bunk believed by Sherdiots (look at the number of "likes" from sheep). Both Colby and Burns have fought exactly two elite WWs (if we can assume Khamzat is elite) in the last 5 years. Burns is guilty of the same thing people accuse Colby of--building his resume on ancient versions of Masvidal, Maia, Woodley, 40-year old Wonderboy, etc.

Gilbert would KO glass jaw Colby, but Colby is far too scared to ever take the fight so we’ll likely never know
Glass jaw? Colby has stood for a bunch of 3 to 5 round wars with heavy hitters and was TKO'd only once after 24 minutes of fighting Usman in their first fight. Colby has great durability and a great chin, whether you like him or not.

This place is beyond delusional. How long did Burns' "iron chin" last with Usman? I mean Dan "the joke" Hooker KO'd him in under 2 minutes...please.

He's better everywhere except kicking.
Not sure how Burns would do in the championship rounds, though. That's a place Edwards, Colby and Usman have shown they can go with good cardio...but Burns' hasn't been tested. He did well for 3 rounds vs. Khamzat but not sure how either would've fared for another 10 minutes.

Colby has the worst chin in all of MMA. I think current BJ Penn has a better chin if I’m honest

If Colby has one good win, how many does Burns have? Maybe Magny? I mean he beat the same old guys Colby did...and most of them were even older than when Colby beat them. I'd say Colby beating a still-good RDA like 4 years ago (who finished Magny around the same time) is as good or better than any win Burns has.
