Bunch of no good, god damn hippies.
Activists plan to light up and protest marijuana laws in a part of D.C. where it is still illegal even to possess the substance: federal land.
The D.C. Cannabis Campaign, which spearheaded the effort to legalize marijuana in the nation’s capital, is calling on supporters to protest federal laws criminalizing marijuana in front of the White House on April 2. At the end of the rally, participants say they will smoke in the open, risking arrest.
The significance of April 2 might be something of a stretch, but organizers say they are “rescheduling” the typical day of marijuana activism and celebration of April 20 — or, 4/20 — just like they want President Obama to “reschedule” marijuana away from a Schedule I substance...
“It is not too late for Obama to do something,” Eidinger said, adding that while more states have made marijuana reforms during Obama’s presidency, the law has not changed at the federal level. “Obama has done nothing, he’s just let things happen.”

Possession of up to 2 ounces of marijuana, and smoking in private homes, is legal in D.C. But it is still illegal to possess marijuana on federal land, even though federal land juts through much of the District.
