Food & Drink Bulleit Bourbon

Not worst ....... for around same price I'd have a tough time buying Bulleit over Woodford Reserve .

You want something different try High West its in an old west like bottle and tastes decent .

I live in Canada and our stupid government is “owning Trump!” By not bringing in bourbon. We’re less than 2% of the market but these elbows up morons think they’re geniuses.

Bars can get it so I was actually able to buy 12 bottles of wild turkey, rare breed but I had to buy a whole case through a bar where I know the owner. Annoying. I only like bourbon. The bullet rye stuff is my favorite of their products I’ve tried.

Knob Creek is also a great choice. Anything but Jack, makers mark or Jim beam for me personally.

I’m a big Knob Creek fan (you mentioned not liking Jim Beam, I assume you mean the white label, Knob Creek is a Jim beam product). You should check out Jack Daniels higher offerings too. Their Old No 7 is shit, but their Toasted, Barrel Proof bourbon and rye, 10 Year and 12 Year are outstanding.

Correct. Mostly the ones we drank religiously as young men I'm burnt out on. I maybe do a couple shots with beers once every 2 weeks.

I like getting a nice bottle bc it'll last me around 2-3 months

You can order from Alberta. You pay for shipping, but they have great prices.

oh yeah, I’ve ordered off of of BSW liquor too a few weeks ago. Elbows up!

Canadian whiskey is terrible and nobody can change my mind. I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars trying to find some I like and it’s a very short list.

Alberta premium cask strength is a good rye though.

That's the place I was going to recommend. I ordered a bottle of Baker's back in October because I was tired of drinking Scotch.

I don't mind the boycott, but they should have sold what they had in stock. You paid for the damn product. Sell it!

I'm not a fan of Canadian whiskey either. I agree with what you said about Alberta premium.

When i drank i loved the stuff.

Just the traditional stuff no need to spend the extra $ on the 10 year. I loved the bite Bulleit had. Bourbon imo isnt supposed to be too sweet or smooth and Bulleit was the best bang for your buck

I like WT Rare Breed…out of curiosity….what did the 12 bottles run you? In the states that would be a little over $600.

Just over $900 Canadian. It was around 70 per. I gave some away for Christmas to my bourbon buddies and kept 6 for myself. I also picked up a case of Evan Williams BIB. That was 40 a bottle. I kept them to stock my bar with.

Have you had rare breed rye? I haven’t. I’ve been super curious but never saw it. We have government liquor stores here and selection is limited.

I also got a bottle of found North (002) which was $$$. It’s Canadian made but goes to the states so the name is pretty ironic. It was incredible and one of the best I’ve ever had. It was good to see there’s some potential here.

A lot of tbe problem (I think) is because there’s actual rules to call your whiskey a bourbon. You could piss in a jug and call it whiskey in Canada. You can take a 3 year old garbage, pump it with color and neutral spirits and call it whiskey and they do. The weather doesn’t help but it also means we get stuck with super young, 80 proof dogshit priced more than bourbon. I’m not a whiskey snob but there’s very little Canadian whiskey I even consider drinkable. Ironically, I find Seagram’s 86, one of the cheapest m the shelf outshines the majority of trash on our shelves.

Elbows up! A $40 bottle of Evan Williams BIB will shit all over 99% of Canadian whiskies I’ve tried tbh.

Never had the rare breed rye.
I’d be willing to try it though.
Selection here isn’t a problem….we have liquor stores that are the size of a grocery store. Full size shopping carts and all.

Top mid level bourbon ro me.

1. Woodford
2. Knob Creek
3. Makers

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Canadian corn whiskey is aged in formerly used barrels, not new charred oak barrels like bourbon is. It’s the charring of a new oak barrel that gives bourbon most of its characteristics.

You’re correct. My beef is with the fact that most Canadian whiskies are young, low proof and straight up have additives in them like neutral grain spirits though.

I think the average Canadian whiskey is much worse than the average bourbon and in seeing that even more now that it’s harder to get bourbon lol

Jealous. Also, a case of 24 domestic beer like bud light coat $50 here. We get screwed hard up here. I used to pay $25 a tin for cheering tobacco 15 years ago lol.
