I'm curious, is there a door behind the fence/grate (whatever you call it)? I'm just wondering what would keep out water from a heavy rain or maybe drunk teenagers peeing through it. :icon_lol:

yes there are and they are about half meter thick (steel and concrete combination)

not to steal the thread, but me and my buddies made this gym from scratch; it was old nuclear basement that we got for usage from city hall, and we cleaned it from seringes(yes, it was a crack house) and all other garbage, painted it and we are equping it (we are putting puzzle mats over the cardboard; its for BJJ) here are some photos..

P.S. any advice how to make it better is more than welcome!

make a thread and update us, i'm very interested. also give some details on how you managed to get that thing from the city council...i might try that tactic over here in australia.

Hi guys, cleaned out a very disgusting basement, don't have pictures of the mess but this is what it looks like all cleaned out. Looking to build a nice place to practice martial arts.

This is what I have to work with. Decent sized room, 8 feet by 17 feet.

he is one of the weirdest cats i have ever seen, he's thirteen years old and acts like a kitten, chases his tail and comes when he's called even if you just say his name casually he comes strolling up, and he's also super tough i've seen him open doors before. Also he loves the smell of weed hehe if anyone sparks a dub he comes and hangs out its pretty funny.

A good place to get carpet underlay is carpet superstore, or you can just look up flooring in your yelow pages and call a few people , it's really not that hard to find, it is expensive though anywhere from a buck to two bucks a square foot, so youre looking at 100 - 200 dollars for the area that I have matted

Not bad. I would suggest that if you plan to have any kind of BJJ there to get a different kind of mat. I used to have those when I started training in my garage and it was ok but to ideal. I purchased some wrestling/BJJ mats that are thick and a bit cushioned and they work great. Great on your feet and even with falls and BJJ training. But if you do not plan on using it for BJJ that is a good set-up.

that cat is insane, he chases his tail! and then he catches it and friggin hurts himself! and he can open doors no bullshit! umm if u wanna see an epic thread go search for my red bull armour thread in pictures n multimedia, that shit is funny, or search for my new armour thread..... thats not as epic but still pretty cool..... the heavy bag is vinyl its by ko fight gear, its a great bag! cost me an arm and a leg to get shipped to canada but better than my only alternative here, a century thai bag which goes rock hard from settling in no time.... built myself a lil chin up bar gotta hoist the chains over my beam so i can start doing pull ups! aaaaaand that''s me for now c u guys! ps. im waiting for my new rival mma bag gloves to come in i'll tell you guys about them when they come in...
