Buffer's successor, UFC FN 91

A lot of what-if talk lately here on who will be replacing whom - from Dana down.

In similar speculation, I wondered if anyone was as impressed with ring-announcer Joe Martinez as I was? In case you missed it, he was the man behind the mic last night at UFC FN 91 but will also be readily recognisable to Sherdog's boxing hounds via Golden Boy.

I can't embed site-grabs here that I have clips of him from, while the ones on YouTube don't do him justice. Sorry for the blunder, lads.

A powerful yet smooth voice for the sport and although I love a Buffer-180 as much as the next guy, I reckon a voice like this guy's could arguably elevate and (in its own small way) re-brand the UFC product, particularly at a volatile time of change in ownership.

Joe Martinez is the man, he has such a smooth voice and its natural. He has been around for a very long time in MMA, he used to make WEC events fun. He did some regional shows around here a long time ago too. Puts Buffer to shame.

I was actually blown away last night - what a voice. I have been watching the sport for so long I tend to tune out the ring-announcing but I found myself paying attention to Joe.

It had me rethinking Bruce. Guy sounds rough, like sandpaper in a solarium.

Sherbros all work at Nitpick, Inc., granted, but I sincerely made this thread because I found myself inadvertently paying attention to the guy when I have for years now tuned out Jimmy Lennon Jr., Bruce and others. No nitpicking here - Joe has something, TPO.
