Bryce had a very different perspective not too many years ago, he had little direction and has learned through observation and by doing. Mistakes and "being wrong" are potent opportunities for us to learn, as Bryce has admittedly done. As far as a hypothetical Hitler, or anyone we see as evil or bad or wrong, we can imagine a scenario where we have an opportunity to hear them out in a casual setting and get a feel for who they are without supporting them or championing their causes, as a way to gain perspective and seek and learn... And shame on people for being so reactive and in their emotions and part of the herd with no willingness to be objective...

In a normal setting your context is correct. We should be objective to a situation but you cannot just spout nonsense on a podcast and not expect a reaction. If this were a more intimate setting then it would be different but just as you said people need to be objective I would argue people also just need to STFU. Not all opinions need to be heard.

Also, I would argue that Bryce deserves the criticism and hate he is getting. There's no world in which people should side with Nazi thinking and the fact that he comes to certain conclusions is ridiculous. You don't have to graduate from school to know Nazi's and Hitler are bad people or that the Earth is round or that seatbelts save lives. It's okay to have a difference of opinion but that doesn't mean the facts tied to said opinion are correct.

Remember, unless this is all a gimmick, this is all stuff he's going to give to his children too. I don't want to speak for anyone but I can't image telling a child "Hey, let's hear a Nazi out."

A lot of gray area here. There are Israeli's/Jews from around the world who question the historical accuracy of the holocaust. It's openly documented but suppressed in the main stream media - which makes people have even more doubts.

You can't have freedom of speech to criticize, be racist, sexist etc... to everyone in the world EXCEPT Jews.

You’re basing this on a couple of false assumptions. For one, plenty of people and companies have wanted to punish people for their vocal support of Israel or Palestine. That’s just a fact, I don’t know where you’ve been. Second, freedom of speech doesn’t mean a company can’t fire you for what you say. You might not like this fact, and I tend to not like it myself, but it is a reality that both parties have taken advantage of when they felt like it and cried about it when it harmed them. Third, only idiots that have gone down the social media conspiracy rabbit holes really deny the holocaust happened.

I really hope you’re indignant about infringement on free speech itt and not mad because you think the Jews made up the severity of the holocaust. That shit you’re talking about is verifiably false. There’s hundreds of thousand of eye witness accounts of the holocaust and the horror it wrought. No one is denying your free speech by not entertaining shit that is pure drivel

I think most “reasonable people” would simply parrot the popular viewpoint, and this is particularly true with this topic where to do otherwise is practically detrimental.

Obviously context matters. Is he saying Hitler went after Jews who were greedy, or that ALL Jews are greedy? You see the difference, I’m sure.

Let me be clear, even the most generous interpretation (Hitler went after Jews who were greedy) does not excuse his actions or the ignorance of targeting only “greedy Jews.”

Most propaganda has a sprinkle of truth, and the idea that Jews were so hated in Germany for no reason at all makes no sense… things are never black/white, and so the strong push to make this topic black/white sets off alarm bells.

Speaking of propaganda, you can’t think that it was only the Nazis using such underhanded tactics, right? Could you ever imagine that some of the popular beliefs about Germany and Nazis is actually propaganda written by their opposition?

It isn't offensive, but it is retarded. Anyone with even a basic understanding of history knows that there wasn't anything that the Jews "did" that warranted slaughtering 6 million of them.

It's extremely common to scapegoat minorities when things aren't going well as a way to lay blame for your own problems. Germany got it's ass kicked in WW1, lost territory, was humiliated, bankrupted etc. A moron like Hitler, instead of contemplating what his group may have done wrong to end up in this scenario, blamed Jews for it.

This is the same guy that wanted to murder all people with disabilities. And Slavs. What did they do to deserve that?

Hitler was a fucking idiot, was a homeless bum prior to WW1, had no education, and led his country to ruin and died like a dog.

Surely you can see the hypocrisy here. On one hand you say there nothing the Jews did to warrant slaughtering 6 million random Jewish people, which I'd agree with. But then you turn around and claim that the German people deserved 20 years of poverty and destitution. You make no exceptions for the average German citizen, including women and children, that had no say in the situation and may not even supported the war.

You feel totally confidant holding the German people fully accountable for the decisions the German leadership made. If that's the case why can't the Nazis hold Jewish people fully accountable for what the decisions and actions the Jewish elite may have done?

the numbers also aren't as high as i thought so i ninja edited. looks like about 1,800 died in the internment camps. and yes, in sheer scale, they aren't comparable but it's still a horrific atrocity.

his story about LGBT groups and trans doctors being targeted first is absolutely correct. those were the first nazi book burnings. he's 100% right. they weren't always run by jews though.

it's much of the reason people think the obsession with homophobic and transphobic rhetoric in the US currently is so hitlerian. hitler came after trans people before the jews, even.
