Valentina Shevchenko vs. Priscila Cachoeira - Are they trying to hype Cachoeira?
Mark Hunt vs. Curtis Blaydes - why not a match for the fans? Hunt - Arlovski?
Donald Cerrone vs. Yancy Medeiros - Are they trying to hype Medeiros ?
Sage Northcutt vs. Thibault Gouti - are they trying to protect Sage by giving him the worst guy in the division and/or even pay him to lose? (ironic)

Listen. A fight like Jacare-Brunson is meant to see whether the old wolf can still hang with the elite or the freshman is ready to hang with the elite.

Same with Hunt-Blaydes. Cerrone-Medeiros. One guy on the way out, the other guy rising.

Makes perfect sense and gives interesting match ups.

Edit: I see your point in asking for Hunt-Arlovski, but that fight doesn’t move the division forward.

I actually do like these fights. For two reasons: I want to see how the young guys prove themselves and I want to know when an older fighter is done so the division can move on. Till-Cerrone was a perfect example of such a pivotal fight.
