Even then, and it is a stretch imo since the Weidman fight was a dogshit performance before the pokes and Shara was a clear loss, he still lost 5 of his last 6 fights. 1 of those to a mediocre returning fighter in Naurdiev where he didn't get anything going, and then that 1 minute mauling by a Barriault on a 3-fight losing streak.Close fight with Shara and getting fucked over by Weidman puts a couple of asterisks in that skid.
Agreed that kid looks promising af.It's okay still have Anderson's other son Erick Silva. Who is only 20 something years old and a rising prospect. This kid is the future.
Shara deserved the win, but I remember thinking I wouldn't have been too upset if it went the other way.Even then, and it is a stretch imo since the Weidman fight was a dogshit performance before the pokes and Shara was a clear loss, he still lost 5 of his last 6 fights. 1 of those to a mediocre returning fighter in Naurdiev where he didn't get anything going, and then that 1 minute mauling by a Barriault on a 3-fight losing streak.
Most importantly he and his team admitted he was struggling with anxiety (on top of having to fight without his usual stack of roids) which meant he struggled to pull the trigger in the cage. He should've never made the walk for the MAB fight.
And GSP was having memory issues and time lapses while he was still training and competing and he is one of the most defensively sound fighters ever. There are guys like Spencer Fisher too who never became champion, but had a long career in the UFC and he is all fucked up now. It’s essentially simulated fight to the death, injuries will occur. But your post just made me think, most of the successful ones do leave this sport broken. Conor, Anderson, Bispings. Only one I can think of GSP & Khabib seems to be the ones who are unscathed.
Yep. I knew that when he got a dent in his head, that was it for him.Thats cold
The ufc was like take your fuckin cracked skull and get outta here
I agree. One of them was getting cut that night, Bruno was just unlucky and it ended up being him. Matching 2 guys on a losing skid normally means both are fighting for their jobs and the loser is 100% getting cut if not both of them depending on how the winner performs. Marc Andre was also lucky he finished him in an exciting fashion otherwise his ass likely would have been booted too with a boring decision victory.Imagine getting your head caved in and waking up to a pink slip
there are distinctions to make. In this case he was cut, But bader for example was removed from roster because he didn't resign.
he was probably not going to get boo'd in montreal regardless of his performance, but yeah he was on the chop block. And somehow, He's already been signed to fight sharabutin, whom we know the UFC fancies quite a bit. Expect his cut after that loss.I agree. That shit pisses me off to this day. Weidman is no longer my boy after that. And then after the fight he had the gall to say Bruno shouldnt react like he did after getting repeatedly eyepoked. The fact that fight wasnt a No Contest is pathetic. He was also never the same after Chris Weidman eyepoked the shit out of him.
He’ll be a kid in a few years. Erick’s still just an infant right now. Coming from a former child, I know how these things go.Agreed that kid looks promising af.
