These crazy tour dates are becoming more the norm in famous musicians. Most of them dont make shit on streaming even with millions of streams. Its to the point where the only real money to be made is from live shows and merch sales. Hence why there doubling down on big tours. Even then ticketmaster gets a fat cut from tick sales and there labels get a fat cut too from ticks and merch sold

Saw him in concert a while back. He graduated from the same high school as me and was close friends with my best friends little brothers. They would skate together and play music in my friends basement. I probably met him before back then, but never paid any attention. This was in 97-98'.
