In case you weren't aware #BringBackOurGirls refers to the Kidnapped Nigerian girls kidnapped by Islamist militants for attending school.

Interesting to note that the "social justice warriors" don't seem interested in getting involved with this project. You would think Anti-White Activist/Feminist Suey Park and her kind would be all over this issue, but instead she is tweeting about not being able to find a date.

Why is it that stories like Stephen Colbert's joke and Donald Sterlings comments become such huge stories that invoke widespread "moral" outrage while legitimate issues, girls being kidnapped for attending school, receive relatively little press.

Sherdog, can you answer the question as to why Colbert and Sterling resulted in countless stories, analysis and outrage blogs but the same people aren't even mentioning this tragic story regarding the Nigerian girls?

Because people like this Suey Park and her friends say shit like this: "The term "people of color" obscures treaty rights, creates false equivalents, conceals anti-blackness. Is this term inherently violent?" lmao

People are stupid...

Maybe they feel they can actually affect the relatively unimportant issues like Colbert/Sterling because it is in America.

Probably just overall media as well, I found out about the 200 girls being kidnapped on here and really haven't heard it much elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure social activism like that is just a reflection of whatever was learned in uni.

Blame their instructor or curriculum for not training them properly.

the end of the debate there.

I found out about it on here as well. Though, I get all of the current news from Sherdog.

I think the overwhelmingly radical University environments don't help. Since the 60's many of the arts and identity studies programs have been hijacked and are pushing a disturbing anti-western sentiment. Since this isn't a story of "white western oppression" the "social justice warriors" don't care and don't have the necessary buzz-words to comment.

It's more fun to pontificate on inconsequential shit than it is to acknowledge true atrocities that might make one feel guilty for doing nothing but blowing hot air?

Post of the hour. I'm super offended by people who are easily offended

One might as well ask why *everyone* spend their time faffing about with useless hobbies and intrests rather than focusing on important stuff like those girls.

This is just so fucking stupid.

Why do some people feel the need to demonize education? And you know exactly what people I'm talking about.

I'm referring to activists that were taught to be so. Churning out activists is something universities do.

Then the graduates come out and parrot what they learned.

It's kinda funny in a way, that the graduates come out and fight the power but they are products of the system.

You are more likely to care about relatively inconsequential things happening in your own country than major events happening in other countries.

That's the reason.

But likely most in here are looking for some reason to bash Democrats/Feminism/Education so don't let that stop you, but here's another one to think about.

Why start a thread about people caring more about something inconsequential when you could be using your time and effort on the internet to bring greater awareness to issues of much larger importance?

I didn't assume you meant math majors advocating for even numbers.

I took a community action class. All we learned was how to mobilize through grass root campaign and help poor kids. Oh, man, I was soooo indoctrinated.

Also, I think you're confusing cause and correlation. Activists tend to be more engaged, more ambitious, and on the average more intelligent. Those people tend to pursue higher education as well.

Fucking bingo. This took too long to say.

Maybe Americans want to take up causes about things happening in America? Ya ever think of that? And maybe they want to take up causes they can actually change, as hashtag activism forced Sterling out and forced Colbert to make a statement, while hashtag activism won't actually do anything about kidnapping victims in another country.

I was referring specifically to "social justice warriors" who pretend to care more about cancelling TV shows and getting people fired from jobs because they don't like the words they used, but then staying completely silent when a legitimate tragedy takes place.
