He has one win in the the last 5 soon to be 6 years.How long are they going to try to make Brian Ortega a thing?
I’m suprised people remember who he even is at this point

Ortega will destroy Moicano again.
Will be good to finally see Ortega at LW, but bit of a shame it’s so late in his career now and I doubt he will have more than 3 fights left in him (but I hope I am wrong about that).
Unless someone gives it to him in law suit.
Ortega should have been allowed to move up a long time ago. I expect him to look better at LW, but the question is whether it's too little too late.
Their first meeting is hard to draw any definitive conclusions from. It was a long time ago, in a different weight class, and while Brian did finish Moicano late, he was down like 2.5 rounds at the time.
I think Moicano is the superior technical striker of the two. He'll probably have an inordinate amount of success piecing up Brian at range with his active jab and kicking game. That being said, Brian is durable as fuck and has considerably more power in his hands whereas Renato is notoriously a bit fragile & pillow-fisted. So even if Renato wins on volume, he could easily get cracked in a wild exchange at literally any moment.
The grappling is the more intriguing part of the equation for me and I hope we get to see plenty of it. Again I think Renato is the better wrestler and positional grappler of the two and we've seen Brian get held down and beaten up from his guard before. However, Renato is not some infallible jiu-jitsu wizard. We've seen him get outgrappled and even submitted on several occasions, so it's not like this is a foregone conclusion.
I think either it's either Moicano UD where he gets put in danger at some point but survives and grinds out a win on points or Ortega by stoppage. Both feel equally likely, but I'm favoring Renato at the moment.
@fortheo what do you think?

Moicano beat him up until the guilotine out of nowhere. Do you even watch fights?Ortega will destroy Moicano again.

By “destroy” do you mean lose two rounds and then catch a submission in the third round?

Yet again, lots of the strikes landed were mid if effective at all.I admit it, I have zero memory of that fight.
Fight stat says though that Moicano comfortably outstruck him, until Ortega found a hail mary submission.
Which is how most of Ortega's wins happen.
Ortega must have dirt on Dana or something because this man gets crazy preferential treatment and fights like once a year if we are lucky.How long are they going to try to make Brian Ortega a thing?
