Media Brian Kelleher wants to fight Youtubers. Afraid of ending up working in Walmart

Youtubers are going to end up driving the labor movement in MMA and that's the most MMA shit of all time.

More like fake outrage talking point that will amount to absolutely nothing. The vast majority of fans don't actually give 2 fucks about fighter pay, the ones bitching about this on Sherdog and Reddit consist mostly of illegal streamers who don't pay for shit to begin with, and outside of occasional FOMO whining online, fighters themselves won't do shit about it either.

You know what's funny though. These guys all know what sells fights and what gets people hyped up and what casuals want to see and let's face it... casuals are who make people rich not hardcore fans.

That said when most of them win a fight and get there 2 minutes in front of a microphone instead of making the most of it they all say the same boring ass nonsense. They don't stand out in anyway or separate themselves from the rest of the roster. If you can't make the most of your opportunity that's your own fault. I'm certainly no Connor McGregor fan but listen what he did was absolutely genius.

I mean he just lost 2 of his last 3, 4 of his last 7. And not even against top guys. What exactly is he execpting to be paid? He's simply not competing at a high enough level to even remotely think he's not going to have too take regular jobs after his career at some point. That pretty much goes for any combat sport athlete, in any sport who has his type of record. Boxing, Kick boxing, it dosen't matter. If you're not making it near the top, you're just not going to make retirement money. I'd like to see pay improve as much as the next guy but even improving pay isn't going to mean middle of the pack or bottom rung UFC guys will be set, but it's unrealistic to think a guy of his record is going to make the kind of money where he won't sweat the bills post retirement. "Making it to the ufc" isn't the same as playing years in say the NHL, NFL, or MLB. Even if you're not a top guy in that league you're playing in the top league against the best guys night in, night out. Kelleher is not competing against the best guys. He's not even winning to get into a position to ask for top guys. Guys in the CFL, AHL, AAA and AA baseball don't make retirement money. That's essentially the level Kelleher is at. Just making it to the UFC dosen't mean you're going to be set. Just like getting a chance at the big leagues in other sports dosen't mean you're set either. You need to prove you can compete against top guys, and do it for some time. And him acting like he's a big enough name to ask for youtubers and act like he shouldn't have to look for jobs post career isn't convincing me of anything. His best win is the christmas spirit of Renan Barao, and has lost to anyone else remotely name worthy.

I don't even know who this guy is. Why does he think he deserves to retire at a super early age and never work again?

What people are failing to realize is the paydays are because of certain names, not just anyone. The pay day is huge because it's Floyd Mayweather and the Paul brothers have a huge following away from boxing. They are celebrities already. They are making more than other boxers, so it's not just about boxing pay vs mma pay. It's big celebrity names fighting with a freak show effect that gets people interested. Same reason why the Conor vs Floyd fight did so well and had such a huge pay day as well. Yes typically boxers make more money, but in this situation they are also getting paid better than other boxers. It's the name recognition that is upping the pay scale for these fights. Lots of mma fighters go into boxing and they don't get that type of pay. Who you are fighting matters.

Never heard of him. I doubt anybody is gonna pay money to see the Paul Bros. fight a nobody.

Seriously I just looked him up. He has 11 fights in the UFC? I have no idea who the fuck he is. I will admit that I been skipping prelims for the past few years.
Pretty much impossible. He fought on the main card of Mcgregor vs Cerrone, which was one of the biggest events of 2020.

YouTube needs to get in on the fight game, YFC: YouTube Fighting Championship. Instead of petty YouTube beefs settled with words, they settle it in the ring!

Is a guy at his level really expected to retire at 35 for the rest of his life? He's really supposed to make enough money to live comfortably for the next 50 fucking years? I'm sure he deserves more money, but if dude has to work at Walmart because he never learned any marketable skills that's on him

The problem for Kelleher is that he's not a well known name (for the broad masses) and actually has a finishing ability.
Unlike these guys who came far in MMA with a wrestling background, but are pretty one dimensional and nowadays over the hill.
Because YT fake boxers are only looking for the latter.

To play devil's advocate, it's not like he would really be getting paid in boxing either. MMA fighters are severely underpaid compared to boxers only at the top level. You take a step away from that and boxers also make peanuts.
I know everyone wants to act like Boxers make such great money, and they do at the very top, but honestly being a fighter is not a way to get rich, they're just too replaceable

These dudes don't pay a cent to the fighters and talk loads of shit about fighter pay, they actually convince themselves they're standing up for fighter pay by illegally streaming lmao. It'd be one thing if they were buying T-shirts, or instructionals, or whatever else fighters are selling, but they don't want to spend anything.

who is he?
Ahh the good ol unoriginal “who is he” “who the fuck is that guy” etc etc etc sherdog classic.

I think kellehers a clown, but only complete nobodies are the ones making fun of people who although in the ufc, are lesser well known. It was classic when Conor said it, but if you’re a fuckin sherdogger sitting behind a computer screen, it’s not funny when you’re the one doing it.
