Yep, Cameron's out (before autumn)! Damn! What a night.

Like I said, symbolic/knee jerk nationalism. The UK had already rejected the EU quota proposal.
American culture has homogenised well outside it's political borders, that's not something which was determined by centralised government.
You've robbed the British people of their agency by attributing this vote to "Americanism." It's paternalistic and petty.

The people of the UK rejected this and it's a joke to pretend American nationalism played a role in their vote.

Salmond says Scotland must now hold second independence referendum

Alex Salmond has said he believes Scotland must now stage a second independence referendum before the UK’s exit from the European Union is agreed – a timescale that suggests a new referendum within the next two years.

He said the Brexit vote, despite a large majority in Scotland in favour of the EU, is a material change in Scotland’s constitutional position. Salmond told BBC Radio Scotland: “This changes the whole context of Scottish independence.”

The former first minister and Scottish National party leader said his successor, Nicola Sturgeon, now had to implement her manifesto pledge to call for a second referendum if there was “a significant and material change in the circumstances that prevailed in 2014, such as Scotland being taken out of the EU against our will”.

Salmond said: “I’m quite certain that Nicola will start to implement that manifesto.”

His intervention implies that he expects Sturgeon to press for a quick second poll. She has been hesitant on the case for an immediate referendum because there is no clear or substantial support for it in recent opinion polls.

Sturgeon is due to make a statement in Edinburgh this morning. While insisting that her government is given a direct role in the UK government’s negotiations with the EU on exiting, the first minister could also demand that Westminster gives Holyrood the legal authority to stage a second referendum if it wants to.

Congrats, Brits.

He sounded a bit salty, but I think he made the right decision in stepping down.

People may criticize the US for its lack of democracy, but this sort of thing is why we protect against it.

Hopefully this decision gives a boost to The Donald's campaign as well:)

David Cameron resigns:
Prime Minister announces he will step down after UK votes for Brexit

David Cameron has announced he is quitting as Prime Minister after Britain voted to leave the European Union after a nearly half a century.

In a statement outside Downing Street, and with his wife by his side, Mr Cameron said that it was “not right” for him to be “the captain that “steers the country” in a new direction.

With his voice breaking, he said: “I Iove this country and will do everything I can to serve it” but he added “the will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered.”

Mr Cameron said he would stay on while a new Tory leader was elected but expected that he would gone by the time of the Conservative Party Conference in October.

“We must now prepare for a renegotiation with the EU. Above all this will require strong determined and committed leadership.

“I think the country requires fresh leadership to take it in that direction.”

Importantly Mr Cameron said he would not invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty that will start the process of Brexit – leaving that decision to his successor most likely to be the former Mayor of London Boris Johnson or the Home Secretary Theresa May.

A Tory leadership election is likely to get underway within weeks.

His statement followed a remarkable night in which British people voted to leave the European Union after a nearly half a century of membership plunging the country into unchartered political and economic territory

With all the results declared, voters backed Brexit by a margin of 52 to 48 per cent.

The outcome is also likely to spark a second independence referendum in Scotland that, unlike England and Wales, voted to remain in the EU.

Nicola Sturgeon said it the vote in Scotland “made clear” that it saw its future as part of the European Union.

Markets reacted with alarm to the vote with the pound plunging against the dollar to levels not seen in more than thirty years. The FTSE was predicted to fall by around ten per cent.

One city analyst described the vote as "one of the biggest market shocks of all time".

The former Liberal Democrat leader tweeted “God help our country”. The German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble said it was a “sad day for Europe”.

But Gisela Stuart, the Labour chairwoman of Vote Leave, called for calm.

“In the long run both Europe and the United Kingdom will emerge stronger as a result,” she said.

The unofficial result was confirmed just after 4.40am in the morning after a surge in support for leaving the EU confounded predictions made just hours before polls closed.

Middle England joined forces with the country’s industrial heartlands of the North East and North West to comprehensively reject warnings of economic Armageddon and vote to leave.

Support for remain was strongest in London and Scotland but with cities like Sheffield and Birmingham joining with Canterbury, Torbay and Peterborough in favour of Brexit momentum drifted away from the remain camp.

The result will now trigger a formal process of British withdrawal from the European Union. A planned meeting of European leaders next week in Brussels will now become an emergency Brexit summit.

Very proud of the UK. Imagine lacking confidence so badly in your country that you actually believe it cannot survive without the EU.

That is the story of Québec, Canada.

Props to the Brits. Proud nation.

What we have here is a total failure from the EU leadership to listen to the people and to compromise. And by the sound of it, comments from Tusk and people close to Merkel, they don't intend to start now. Sounds like they want to push on. So I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't just the start of other countries looking to leave and far-right parties on the rise.

It can all be avoided if they just compromise on aspects of the EU that are unpopular, like completely open borders. but they're married to these ideals and cannot let them go.

Damn bruh... Cameron fucked up big time. He got overconfident after the Scottish independence vote, thought he could do a repeat, but instead he got splashed with hot tea in the face.

You have to give him credit - the people asked for a vote and he delivered it to them.

He dug his own grave but at least he let democracy play out.

Thing is, you need to be really fucking careful when you start making rules and then break them when the result doesnt suit you. Even if they won by 1 vote, they won. Either you have democracy or you dont. If you want to remove democracy, well lets just say that path is pretty bloody.
None of that contradicts the observation I made.

My point was that technology is rapidly improving...soon VR/3d printers everywhere which might solve a lot of scarcity issues.

It's gonna come soon.....The only people who will freak out when this does indeed happen are 1.Terrorist...2.Islamic Countries with harsh laws....3.First World Countries who don't want to share(primarily racist Euro Countries).

Of course things could go wrong but if done right, it's better than countries divided IMO.

Ahh, but see there are two possible outcomes to when we hit a post resource scarcity economy, one is a new feudal system, with private lords that control their fiefdom, the other is a star trek type of economy.

By creating centralized government in globalization, you are increasing the chance that we end up in the new feudal system.

The capital holders have too much influence over the governments. We have to get to a post resource scarcity society to change that.

Hopefully this decision gives a boost to The Donald's campaign as well:)
Yeah it would be totally groovy if we all fell for the bullshit of some fringe xenophobic climate change denier too. Rock on.

Reading comprehension. Again. Stick to pictures.
