News BREAKING NEWS Yoel Romero Out Of The UFC!!!!

Dana never releases guys from their contracts. Especially not someone as marketable and exciting to watch like Romero.

I wonder what happened behind the scenes
..

Aye Dana. Release me from my contract or i'm coming for you

Should've actually tried to win one of his last few fights.

Hopefully he takes his window licking fan base with him.

This truly fucking sucks. Yoel was one of the top 3 guys whose fights I was most excited to watch.

On the other hand, though, given his age, given how many of his last fights involved a title and did not result in a win, it's hard to see how the UFC would deal with the guy, as he's likely to annihilate their up-and-coming contenders, but is probably unlikely to make another title run. Tricky spot.

I still hope this is an early April fools....FUCK!!

His not a good return on investment. You could probably pay for 4 contender fighters on his salary. He's had a few failed attempts at the belt and his last fight was awful. Can't argue with this firing.

Yeah I'm wondering wtf the story is. 3 fights left? Perennial monster at 185 and Dana lets him off his contract? This doesn't add up. One stinker of a fight isn't any reason to release him. Dana held on to contracts to people suspended years for failed drug tests just to fuck with them

“ThE JuDgES ScReWeD YoEl”

While conveniently ignoring that he missed weight against Rockhold and was rewarded with a title shot then missed weight in that and his fans are still dumb enough to think he shoulda left with the belt.

He probably wanted to negotiate more money and the UFC said no.

How do you know he's never met his son? He's been back to Cuba a bunch of times. He can freely come and go.

He has said he wants to fight for much longer. Even jokingly (I think) said "10 more years" in a recent TMZ interview.

Let him bang bro.

10 Years back then.

Maybe he did at that time. Or maybe he had to express the willingness to stay within good graces. A lot of things change. He posted an instagram story yesterday of a small insurance startup in the miami region. I suspect, though with no confirmation of any sort as I don't know him, that he's pursuing an EB5 investor's visa. If he gets this company up and running, and it seems like he has, he doesn't need to fight. He can leave the UFC. And if he and the UFC seemed to both find it beneficial, which seems to be the case, it's not about me "letting him bang bro", as it is about you "letting him go."
