News BREAKING: Jamahal Hill injured (ruptured achilles), relinquishes LHW title

That’s unfortunate. Not a big Hill fan but I hope he he recovers quickly and gets back in there.
 
Why are these dudes just giving up the belt all of a sudden? I mean it's respectable but also weird. Being paid off. imo Jiri already said he was bullied into relinquishing his title.
 
Jamahal is a good dude. Hope he recovers soon.
 
Very honorable of him, champs have a lot to learn from how Hill and Jiri have handled their injuries.

That being said, LHW has been a joke since DC retired and Jones left for HW. Old man Glover, bottom top 10 fighter, became the champ. Same with Jan. And now Hill. And Jiri barely beat Old man Glover with a come from behind sub. All great fights though, but I miss the times when we had a dominant champ and not that every new title defense would be a 50/50 fight on who wins it.
 
This must be both psychically and mentally tough for Hill. I hope he gets better. I heard anything near the heel is tough to fully heal from. And easy to re-aggrivate.

LHW is going to be like BW where we're going to have to reunite the title later. Now we have Jiri and Hill to put together in the future.
 
Well, I guess it's time for the interim interim interim LWH title.

100%. The amount of rehab that will need to be done, religiously, and then maintenance just in the hope of it being ok again. It's a fuckin bitch

Jamahal will likely be out of action for a year or more....the UFC likely would've stripped him anyway. i guess he just would prefer to give it up instead.
 
The winner of Jan vs Alex is 100% fighting Jiri in December, Izzy is defending in two months, if Alex wins his next 2 and Izzy wins his next one, we might get Alex vs Izzy 5 early next year at LHW.
 
As someone that has suffered a fully ruptured Achilles, welcome to the club Jamahal.

Probably looking at 9 months to 1 year or more for full recovery. Wishing a speedy recovery.


Very sad that Hill won't be able to defend his title this year.

Is this gonna become standard practice now? Champs giving up their belts over injuries? Years ago you could ride it out 6 months to a year or more, nowadays with the pressure dana and the ufc put on fighters, it seems they are coercing them into forfeiting belts. Weak
 
Winner of Alex vs. Jan will fight Jiri for the belt next year probably.

Imagine if it's Alex vs. Jiri? Good fight for UFC 300.
