So I'm currently watching Mark Hunt vs. Curtis Blaydes, and I watched a few recent Reem fights.

I think the 1st Round will be very boring at first because Alistair is very patient, and waits to counter. Curtis really just stands there, and throws jabs. I could see Alistair tag Curtis, because Curtis's defense really isn't there in terms of striking. I think when Alistair tags him a few, Curtis will shoot for a takedown, probably against the cage, and I don't think he'll have a lot of success, and will catch a few knees. The switching of the stances will also be trouble for Curtis imo.

2nd Round is where I see the finish, and I think Curtis will shoot almost immediately in the middle of the cage, and I think that's where Alistair will lock in a Guillotine, and make Curtis tap. I could also see Reem KO'ing him with knees in the clinch.

Did I do a good job of breaking down this fight?

I just wanna add, I'm now watching Reem vs. Hunt and Alistair ate this nasty elbow from Hunt. You could hear it, didn't really look rocked.

If Blaydes lands on the chin its over, if he doesn't, Overeem wins.

All the analysis you need on this one.

Well yea, but I wanted to watch tape to see what advantages Alistair has in both striking, and grappling.

Reem said he didn't really know where he was after eating that, I was surprised tbh. He ate some big shots, recovered well and came back for the KO that fight.

I really don't know what I'm expecting from Reem in this fight, with Blaydes, wrestling, Reem hasn't really been taken down more than a couple of times in his UFC career, but he hasn't fought heavy wrestling fighters in a long time, but he does have good TDD, knees and the guillotine so yeah..if he's on top of his game, he should have the tools to beat Blaydes. But we just never know with Reem. Blaydes could come in and KO him with a glancing jab.

Im thinking Reem is going to try to do a bunch of low kicks to bait him into an overhand, while circling alot outside of range. Blaydes is the one that will have success with the jab. At some point they will clinch and Blaydes will win the grappling battle. He'll probably capitalize when Reem throws the knee. Maybe get a GNP finish.

Overeem could also catch a right hand from Blaydes as Overeem tends to keep his hands relatively low when facing grapplers. He’s ready to sprawl the takedown attempts and clinch.

I think he’s pretty confident in his footwork and headmovement but we’ve seen him get tagged and in HW fights that could be enough, porcelain chin or not.

As I’ve said before this is pretty much a 50/50 fight IMO, as Overeem might be on the decline (?) and Blaydes is a kind of a promising prospect.

This. Overeem has more skills but he has a chin that any decent strike will crack. Blaydes is a 255 lbs HW with power. If he is able to land he will probably win. Even if he is getting soundly beaten all it will take is one power strike to land.

As an Overeem fan I'm worried about this fight. Although, with Alistair's chin, I'm worried for him going into just about any fight these days...

Overeem has good TDD but he hasn't faced a wrestler like this outside of Lesnar who didn't really attempt a takedown. Blaydes proved his toughness against Hunt and Ngannou, he can take a punch, so it will take a lot to get him out of there. Alistair will likely be keeping his hands low in anticipation of a takedown and that leaves his chin wide open. I could see Blaydes either knocking him out with a punch standing or taking him down and pounding him out like Miocic did. If Overeem wins I think it will likely be a hard fought decision, where he picks him apart from the outside, stuffs the takedown attempts, and wins the clinch battle.

I'll definitely be cheering for Overeem but I'm 100% expecting another devastating loss and the Blaydes hype to go through the roof.

I think Curtis can land punches on the feet and land takedowns in this fight

If he plays it smart he wins, probably with a finish

Glad to see Reem took a long layoff after that Ngannou KO, dudes chin has taken a beating over a 70+ pro fight career between MMA and K1. I’ll never sleep on the Reem, he’s very resilient, I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes quick work of Blaydes, also won’t be surprised if he gets brutally KO’d again. It’s like a coin flip to see who will be the nail and hammer...

Are you looking for acceptance from the sherdoggers? Is this a dry run for a job interview you’re trying to get on ESPN? Why so worried about what we think?

No, I was just wondering. Sherdog probably isn't the best place to ask for something.

I read this as breaking: Overeem vs. Blaydes. Scared me for a sec.

Blaydes was so so close to being finished by Hunt in that fight.

I'm going with Reem with this and throwing him in some of my parlays since he is the underdog. I just feel Overeem will manage to keep it on the feet and be very patient and selective on the feet and strike his way to UD. Guillotine is always possible with Reem though.
