French media la sueur interviewed Ciryl gane right after the fight , cliffs : ciryl explain he smashed his big toe at the first kick , felt very pressured and like an electric choc every time he stepped his foot on the ground , he couldn’t establish his jab , his back jumps after this , he felt at the end it was pretty even , 50/50 , could went both way. He said that it screwed his game plan.

I believe him, he was way more flat footed and looked like a sitting duck for Volkov, it's not that hard to believe his toe affected him given these guys fought a few years ago and the striking looked 100% different.

I still think he lost, but that's a different topic.

He looked weird for sure. When they announced him as the winner, you could see he was surprised. Bad fight, questionable decision.
If someone told me yesterday that Gane and Volkov would wrestle, I’d call him names.

I don't even think he realized he was announced the winner lol. I think his mind was somewhere else during the decision and he just walked out thinking he didn't get the decision

Gane was pretty clearly compromised after his first left-leg kick of the fight. He went directly from being light on the balls of his feet, bouncing around, to being slow and flat footed. He was stuck in a southpaw stance when he's a righty who usually switches stances a fair bit. His kicks were weak as fuck - no pivot at all on his front leg kicks and barely any back leg kicks, all of which were tentative at best - when they're usually an important weapon for him. He clearly avoided pushing up off the ball of his left foot in that third round when he should have been trying to get off his back. And he limped like a peg-leg after the fight. Gane's definitely being honest in this explanation.

Hopefully he didn't completely fuck up his toe. And hopefully Volkov learned to fight with some urgency in future late rounds of close fights.

I mean it was pretty clear how slow he was compared to their first fight. Doesn't excuse the dumb grappling mistakes though

The state of the heavyweight division is a joke you would think after 25 years we would have some killers but id still take the Pride heavyweight division of the 2000s over this crap. Fedor, Big Nog, Little Nog, Cro Cop, Werdum would wipe the floor with most of the guys today.

So excuses for his last two performances which both should have been losses.

Don't really see how anyone could argue he should have lost against Spivak.

He treated Serghei like a punching bag and finished him.

Happy feet Gane would have destroyed Volk

Jones fought with his godamn bone hanging out and didn't even know it.
Gane crying cause a hangnail.
They ain't the same
