Movies Brandon Lee fight scenes

Brandon Lee would've been one the biggest movie stars of all-time.

He had all the skill sets to be a great actor and great action star.

And to add he had the looks and charisma as well.

Rest in peace.

Rapid Fire was legit

I agree with you. Handsome dude with a Keanu "good guy" vibe. I remember tons of hype around him after the Crow. I guess we'll never know, but I still think odds would have been stacked against him to be as big as his dad or the other guys I mentioned - those guys got by more on physical rather than verbal acting (though his dad had legit star power and screen presence).
Funny you should mention that since Brandon was the original pick of the directors/writers to star in The Matrix--the role which eventually went to Keanu since Brandon passed away before filming ever began.

There's no such thing as "pure screen presence," and what you're describing using that silly non-concept is part of Bruce's acting skill cultivated through years of experience. Watch Jackie Chan's, Jet Li's, and Donnie Yen's first films and then watch them in films like Police Story, Once Upon a Time in China, and Ip Man. They all have "physical prowess," but you don't become good, much less iconic, much less legendary onscreen without acting skill, and acting skill comes from practice and experience. Look at Bruce's performance in Fist of Fury and if you think his acting was merely "fine" but "unnecessary" then, frankly, you have no idea what you're looking at or talking about.

Agree that physical acting (body language, screen presence, etc.) is a big part of acting and has to be specifically honed for the screen. It's distinct from martial arts skill as evidenced by every star MMA fighter ever cast in a movie - they look laughable opposite legit actors even during fight scenes. Also witness 2' 8" elderly manlet with spine issues and no martial arts training Pat Morita selling the shit out of his "karate" in the Karate Kid movies. Dude had legit acting chops.

Guess I disagree Brandon was Heath Ledger material and I think Dacascos was closer in terms of career trajectory in the mid 90's, but on balance I can see your points. I do agree that had Brandon become a big star (which he had the potential for), it would have been on his acting chops vs. fighting skills which, let's face it wasn't that impressive based on what we saw onscreen.

No disrespect to this dude, but did folks actually see him as a special talent? I remember seeing Rapid Fire and The Crow back in the 90's and thinking dude was OK but not on the level of guys like his dad, Tony Jaa, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, etc. with their sick moves and screen presence.

I didnt think he was a better martial artists than any of them, I believe thats what hollywood wanted for him cause of his name. I did see his acting potential and thought he was certainly on route to a decent career at minimum.

Yes. Because his moves look "dirty" in the right way, meaning that the techniques was not clean and perfectly done. Yet they where not clumsy looking.

Now thats very hard to pull off.

If you watch someone do real sparring or fighting, do their moves look the same every time? No.. a left hook thrown 20 times, look different each time.

Brandon Lee kicking and punching in his movies had that.

geeez those kicks look ungainly. He would have beneffited from more practice and more stretching. His wing chun hand skills looked ok to me though.

I see one "bad" kick there.. the first one. The rest are more then fine

Literally only watched him in the crow. Never really got the hype.

A lot of people don’t know this, but his dad was Bruce Lee.

Brandon Lee was definitely gonna become even more of a superstar than he already was. It's a tragedy that he died so young.

Also, it's a tragedy that River Phoenix was extremely young when he died.

Rest in peace, Brandon Lee.

Rest in peace, River Phoenix.

Also, that last kick had to be a stuntman

Had to look that up, actually.
Bruce had more names than any legend I can think of. Lee Siu Long, Sai Fon as a child (girls name to trick the demons) and there was some variation of "lee three legs" because he could kick so good.

just look at it, that's how they do stunts, conceal the face and that move is probably beyond the guy. It's nothing wrong, Bruce Lee didn't do the flips in his movies, some people had a hard time believing bruce needed any stuntman.
