I called it 10 years ago, the second the fighters start getting boxing money and treatment it's going to turn to shit.

Yes I don't care about how much money fighters make, I'm not a new breed finance fan. Getting 100k a couple times a year to do what you love beats doing the 9-5 jobs that 90% of us hate.

We never had all this bullshit and legions of noob fools lecturing us on the finances and how draws should not fight back in 2007

Prize fighting would turn out how prize fighting is after 100s of years? And you saw that coming?

People will call you paranoid but you're not wrong.

The longer fighters stay "on top" the more money they make from sponsors, TV deals, etc which in some cases is more than they'd make actually fighting.

It pays to stay the champ

I think this is short-sighted. You can't earn money, fighting, after you retire and you have a physical deadline that isn't experienced in most professions. You remove prime years of learning other professions and you shorten your lifespan in earning potential outside this profession and actual life.

Might sound harsh but nobody is forcing them to do it.

Posts like this is why I never bothered to sign up, and finance fools. It's a long weekend, I can spare some time.

This is the true and proven trajectory of any art or sport. As soon as the athletes' money, ticket sales, PPV sales and the business becomes public access, the athletes drastically change, and so does the sport.

It happened in Pop music, Rap music, Rock music and every area of human society. At some point, fans become more interested in who the athletes/performers are having sex with, how much they are getting paid and how they spend what they're getting paid, than the performances.

MMA will not escape the boxing the model. Boxing has been around for centuries, and their model has been in place for who knows how long. Dana White is not some genius innovator who will protect MMA from the fate of some many combat sports.

I think that's poor justification, the moment you do that with one industry, it can spread. Then you are left with "owners" making the bulk and all employees making minimum wage. You have to utilize leverage while you can before it gets stripped away.

edit: Also, no one is forcing you to watch. Don't like, it don't watch.

He's doing his best to turn it into boxing. He dreams of being Don King. "Were offering Anthony Joshua 500 million"

He and Rogan wet themselves over big black athletes

Fixed: "Boxing level of ducking and protection ruined MMA."

You have to consider a limited career length and medical issues resulted by fighting later in life.

He's doing his best to turn it into boxing

How would he turn that into an advantage?

What does Dana/UFC have to gain from "turning MMA into boxing"?

He would be leveling the playing field and giving power to fighters. What is he gaining in this scenario?

I haven't been watching as much of late.

Also, I can't watch because of the way fighters are being divas and not fighting. Like I said. The big money has ruined it.

You're not saying anything. I'm slow. Please explain.
He made money from Conor boxing. Now he wants to spend hundreds of millions on boxing and a promoter. UFC fighters will see the money UFC is putting into boxing and get annoyed turn fights down even more, and demand more money a la Conor. Simple stuff.
