Boxing Discussion VI

i was actually shocked on how many people were betting on brant, who has done absolutely nothing in his career at 160, relying specifically on age and dropping down a weight class being the factors that were going to win him the fight.

if this fight were at 175 i wouldve given rob very little chance if any of winning
We live an learn, I’m sure you won well on braehmer.

well it wouldn't feel like a normal ufc if i hadn't blown a chunk of last week's profits on some really dumb shit.

no, i hedged my braehmer bet on brant after cleverly was kod and his subsequent retimrent announcement after the fight thinking that nathan couldve been shot when fighting juergen

ended up not betting on either fighter, imo, not a good fight to bet on.

Going to play some on Steve Claggett later tonight, by no means suggesting others follow but I give him a chance and don't mind the odds.

Claggett wins @ 4.50

Helps with the Brant loss but still more to make tonight.

Typical disgraceful uncompetitive boxing card tonight. Smallest fav is whyte @ -500 rest are -5000 or more. I will be watching cage warriors

Allen vs Saward - Fight goes the distance @ 4.50

Already posted my thoughts on Saward when he stepped in on short notice. He's a man mountain, sparred with guys like Yarde previously and comes out of a solid gym, also worked a bit with Eubank Sr in the past.

He's 3-0 and looks a tough guy, I don't think he wins but it's only a 6 round fight now and I think he's tough enough to see it out, with Allen's fight with Thomas moved back he could be happy to get some rounds in and test his own conditioning now that he's dropped some weight.

Allen isn't a huge one punch KO guy so I rate Sawards chances of making it more than I would usually against a short notice guy.

I know mma is different but paul taylor dropped him in 20 seconds. Gives me pause re his punch resistance

Yeah, I see where you are coming from regarding that but like you said, small gloves and was caught in the clinch and didn't see the shot coming. He was only 19 years old at the time and not been Boxing, running after his opponent with zero defence at all.

I think now at 24 with experience training at Peacock's we aren't going to see that.

Peacocks is my old gym confidence increase. Does he have tall man defence syndrome tho?

Can sometimes leave his chin up a bit but Allen favours the body a lot so hope he avoids any overhand punches. He has a decent enough jab and straight, he has the tools to cause some problems all depends on his shape etc, like the price though.

Settled on playing the over in the Joshua vs Takam fight, hoping he avoids the big shots early. If Joshua hurts him in the first or second round I think he gets it done early for sure but going to take the over. Poor card for betting, will be playing the Allen fight goes the distance play I mentioned earlier, still looking for another bet I like.

there is now over 1.5mm being offered for anthony joshua 20/1 at betfair.

the last time i saw action like this being offered at such long odds was molina/wilder where deontay was argubaly one uppercut away from being knocked down.

i dont think that takam has what it takes to beat aj but neither did mccall when he kod lewis

I think his only chance is taking Joshua's shots and him tiring and Takam trying to take over late, even then it's hard to see.

Would love to see a huge upset.

Despite news a few days ago about Ishida failing a medical it appears to be false and is indeed still fighting, must have been some bullshit.

the fight has many similarities to the lennox/oliver fight. takam is arguably on the level of mccall and joshua a ko machine like lewis but with inferior punch resistance, footwork and cardio.

when someone is putting that much money on a longshot i have to follow especially with live betting being offered. if the guy is serious hes going to have to eventually move that money into pinnacle and such and the odds on carlos will crash

nonetheless, an interesting storyline for what is a pretty boring weekend of boxing

fwiw, i dont think much of aj. to me hes just another frank bruno until proven otherwise who a guy like lennox would completely outclass

He did beat Klitschko though. Which current HW would you pick over him?
