I'm on Denis Shafikov as a small favorite at home in Russia this Friday against Richard Commey in an IBF Lightweight eliminator to fight Robert Easter. Commey is coming off a tough fight and split decision loss to Easter while the much shorter but hard punching and aggressive Shafikov is coming off a round 10 TKO of previously undefeated Jamel Herring. A smallish boxing promoter won the purse bid for this and the crowd will be behind Shafikov, maybe the judges too.

Line movement is also forcing my hand on the other Russian main event this weekend. Near evens where it opened you'd have to consider the skill and experience of top cruiserweight Lebedev, but at +170, Gassiev's size and power have enough value for a 1u play:

Murat Gassiev (+170) vs Denis Lebedev $100.00 for $170.00
 
Doubled my bet on Shafikov because I like this spot in Russia and I had him on my short list of boxers to bet since he stopped Herring:

Denis Shafikov (-160) vs Richard Commey $320.00 for $200.00
 
I am actually on Commey for this fight. He really impressed against Easter and I felt he could have taken that decision. Should be a great fight.

The Gassiev fight should also be great. He doesn't have the big win yet so I am interested to see how he handles his first step up here. I hopped on the fight does not go the distance.

You feel confident Commey will get a fair shake in Moscow if it's close? Part of me doesn't like the idea, but I'm personally hoping for some Russian bias if it's debatable, lol.

That is the part where I did not initially know that it was there! I recall a Russian fighter losing in a massive upset to an African fighter earlier this year, not sure if was a decision but there was no robbery there, so I am hoping no robberies happen.

I do feel confident in Commey but I just want to see a great fight here. I think that he will be so hungry after the Easter fight.

Im avoiding this thread until I can find a way to watch it. Enjoy the fights!

somehow, the ref did not rule an afolabi kd in round 5 as well as one judge having rakhim winning every single round

nobody will care if commey gets robbed including himself for taking the fight in russia as he knows that is probably a very likely outcome

That was a great performance by Ola there.

The other upset I am thinking of I cannot recall. I know this because I bet on the favorite lol.

What card you guys starting with? Lebedev on now then im switching to uk card on boxnation
 
Just tuned into the Russian stream to see if Gassiev/Lebedev started yet and saw an African boxer named Indongo KO hometown favorite Troya stiff with almost his first punch in the first round to win as a +1000 dog. Gassiev/Lebedev should be up next.
