Always a lot of talk about these kinds of matchups. Whether it's Anderson Silva vs Roy Jones Jr. or Nick Diaz vs Roy Jones Jr. or Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather... in all these matchups I assume the boxer will get their way and it'd be Marquess of Queensberry rules.

Of course, Randy Couture fought James Toney under MMA rules.

My question is, why do these matchups never meet in the middle? Make it a kickboxing bout. That way, the MMA fighter has a chance in a stand up war... and the boxer only has to worry about kicks rather than what happened to Toney... being taken down and beaten on the ground.

Conor vs Floyd is going to be so one sided unless it's a kickboxing style bout.

I agree with TS. Kickboxing matchup is way more exciting and makes more sense.

I want Mark Hunt vs David Tua

The cleanest example is Mercer vs Sylvia, it is clear that boxing is the dominant fighting form.

Tua has retired but Tua would have won this fight by ko/tko. Hunt is not enough of a kicker to stand much of a chance in this fight. With respect to him, fan of both fighters.

This has been discussed ad nauseum, on these boards. General consensus is it's apples and oranges. Boxers are experts at one thing; mmartists are journeymen at a dozen things. You might as well compare 100m sprinters to decathletes.

No it doesn't. Why would mayweather agree to that. Even if he won he'll still be 49-0 in BOXING.

MMA fans are so insecure. They're different sports.

TS this is dumb. If Mcgregor wants to kickbox then go to glory and fight Daley or Schilling.

Take a Ferrari to a tractor pull or a tractor to a road race, which wins?

You are terribly underestimating Hunt´s lowkicks tho.

Tyson fury vs Overeem under k1 rules would be hilarious, I put a bet on how fast Furys legs would get destroyed.

I'm not he kicks hard but don't see it being a factor in this fight. There is a big gap in boxing skills between two.

As much as i like Hunt , i would probably also favor Tua to win , but Hunt not only kicks hard like a mofo but hes also very fast.
Imo that could very well be a decisive factor in this dream match up.

A high level pro boxer would likely wipe the floor with anybody in MMA in a modified rules fight unless said MMA fighter had credentials from fighting at a high level in an individual striking sport like WB & Joanna, the quality of striking in MMA is poor for the most part, sloppy overhands with zero technique.

I got Hunt via leg kicks. I used to watch Tua..He had some tough loses. But He had some devastating KO's
