BORING!!!! BORING!!!!! BORING!!!!!!

Khamzat lived up to the nick name of "Borzzz" in this hugfest because it was extremely boring

Even the pro Hamas crowd who was on his side in the beginning was booing all that hugging

Khamzat fans who are defending this hugfest better keep up that same energy when other huggers like Gamrot or Mosvar do this
We already know they won't because human hypocrisy in the 2020s is at an all-time high.

I bet on Khamzat and that fight went pretty much as I expected, so I won’t shit on it. But it was a boring fight, Ank - Alex level of boring. Good result, but I will never rewatch it.
According to at least one poster here, everybody who bet on Khamzat thought it was the Greatest Fight Ever. So thank you for conclusively proving that take wrong. Seriously.

DDP was trying his hardest to scramble but Chimaev had him locked down due to his strength & his transitions. Many are trying to paint a picture of Khamzat just laying on Dricus & Dricus just letting him lay on him. Lol that's not the case at all. Dricus tried for 25 mins to scramble around but Khamzat had him tied down with nothing for him to do. That's domination. Khamzat was also doing work most of the time while the fight being on the ground. Those crucifixes Khamzat had DDP in were terrifying & brilliantly secured. DDP couldn't defend takedowns & the pace Khamzat set is impossible for anyone to keep up with & that should be appreciated.

I think more to the point, this was a fight where nobody got hurt.

After 15-20+ minutes of positional ground control its pretty obvious Khamzat was not going to get a submission and his tippy tap crucifix strikes were getting absurd. I would liked to have seen Khamzat take some risks to land real damage or let a scramble happen so he could work for a choke.

I mean, he also could have tried to punch and kick him. Shit is very impressive, and extremely tedious to watch.

Call it what you want, but you can't blame someone using the best tool in their toolbox. Khamzat put on a fckn clinic.
I was impressed with how Kmat was able to get and hold DDP in those positions for nearly the whole 25 minutes, and in that respect I can call it impressive, but it wasn't really unexpected or exciting to me after the first round. I would have been excited if Kmat had killer crucifix execution, like say a Valentina or a Blansfield. I would have been excited if Kmat had backed off and invited DDP to his feet several times like Fluffy did for Dolidize. I would have been excited if Kmat had pointed to the ground in the center of the cage like a Holloway, but it is, what it was, and "The Boredzzz" will have more opportunities to leave us all thrilled for having stayed up late.

I enjoy wrestling and grappling clinic, but that was just hugging. If waistlock on the ground was banned you would see scrambles on the ground

I get what you're trying to say but you forget that Chimaev did try and finish DDP multiple times in the crucifix position. DDP just understood what to do when he got there. What you want is the Pride rules. Let's just call it what it is. That being said though I agree that the Merab style of fighting is boring as shit. I'm more optimistic.

Yes we get fights like yesterday and fighters like Merab but those fighters are rare and as their style is more available for study down the line the hope is that those styles will be more beatable. However, it would not surprise me at all if guys like Merab and Chimaev were using special "substances" that just are not caught by athletic commissions to fight like that.

Agreed. But those strikes when he got DDP in that second crucifix were looking nasty. How Dricus didn't get opened up from those is wild.

I would be open to the idea of changing the rule where if a fighter is considered "down" and all that is happening is the other fighter is throwing non-threatening knees to the body or legs that the fight be stood up. Similar to if a fighter is on his or her back and all that is happening is the other fighter is throwing non-threatening kicks to the thigh area they are stood up by the referee.

DDP didn’t have basic frames or escapes from bottom. If the problem is the waist lock, learn how to get out of the waist lock.

That is your opinion & I think Khamzat knew if he stood & banged with DDP he would lose that fight. I mean in the lil amount of time they did stand & trade DDP tagged him & Khamzat went right back to wrestling. I can't blame a guy who uses the best tool in his toolbox. I would do the same as everyone else if put in that position.

Its subjective and I've only watched the fight once in real time (big doubt I'll be watching that snoozer again) but in the grand scheme of 'ground and pound' I would not say those looked nasty. We had so little activity on the ground outside of positional control it was a little bleep of excitement when something actually happened.

Exactly. Some of those strikes were hard, especially the elbows.

And those weak gnp punches do serve a purpose. They can force a fighter to change his position and create an opening.

Not only that, they wear you down and they do damage. Just look at DDP'S face after the fight. Not every strike can be thrown with power, especially against a guy who's strong and has plenty of gas left. You throw with too much power and you might get reversed.

That fight was at least as exciting as many of GSP's wins, and people remember him fondly.

No one is pro Hamas. Everyone should be anti- genocide though. That said, Khamzat embarrassed Dricus. Even with Goddard standing them up, Dricus had nothing.

True, just my opinion, and worth no more than anyone else's. I do agree with you that boxing, kicking, elbows, knees and submissions are not the best tools in Khamzat's box, the take downs, and wet blankets are his best tools by far. My point is that is NOT what everyone else does, there are a lot of fighters who are not afraid to take chances. There are a lot of fighters who do not like to hear the crowd boo and will up the ante to put on a show for the fans and the UFC. I suspect that Khamzat himself wishes today, that he had uped the ante more last night.

The fault lies with the guy who's playing safety from the bottom.

DDP needed to try to escape and try to win the fight but he was just trying to avoid getting smashed and RNC'd.

Didn't know Chimaev was fighting for the belt. Good for him on finally getting it done. Sounds like Diamond Dallas needs to get back to the drawing board.
