ethics is a big part of it. alot of people don't like how animals are being treated / fed a processed diet / pumped full of hormones to grow faster / antibiotics.

the vegan stuff i've tried is about the same as the real thing. oat milk, mushroom steak, cashew cheese, beyond burger, vegan sushi, etc. they even have a vegan egg now.

the only thing i haven't gotten right yet is pizza. the cooked cheese just isn't the same
