Bobby Green coming in short notice basically means he’s not supposed to win

unrelated but i constantly confuse Bobby Green, Bobby King and Jason High with eachother...theyre like the male equivalent of Amy Adams, Jenna Fischer and Isla Fisher who I also cant tell apart lol
 
I think it's like you said it. He's not expected to win.

So if he wins, great for him. It will make wonders for him in the rankings.
If he lose, it won't change nothing for his career. He won't even have spent time in a training camp.

It's just an easy paycheck at this point. I feel like it's a win-win situation for him.

He's taking a gamble. First off, he gets paid either way. Second, if he wins, legendary. If he loses, short notice, unprepared, blah blah blah. He has a built in excuse. But he's basically guaranteeing that he gets a nice check while gambling on the idea that he might actually win even though he's most likely going to lose.

Smart play on Green's part. Title's are irrelevant if you're not making money. The man wants to get paid. So I respect his gamble. Aside from the loss on his record, he's not really losing much. (unless islam decides to just beat him into a living death).
 
Its a great style matchup for Islam, I expect a one sided fight, but props for taking it Green on short notice. I was really looking forward to the Islam vs Dariush fight
 
Think of the short notice fights that paid off. Diaz subbing McGregor and making millions. Bisping KOing Rockhold for the title.

Ofc there are lots more examples where it didn't work and the replacement got run over, but I can't list those. Stay positive Bobby.

Green just had a training camp and is relatively undamaged. He's a good wrestler and striker. He'll probably lose like everyone else will to Islam, but don't write the guy off as a nobody. I think he has better wrestling than Dariush and it makes it a better fight.

Bobby's striking is very technical, but he's a volume guy, not a power guy at all. 8 of his 10 UFC wins have come via decision.

If Islam has more title defenses than khabib there's an argument he'd have a better UFC career. But the 0, the 3 wins in a row vs p4p list fighters and the sheer dominance will probably always be in Khabibs favor.
 
Yes, same with Hooker. It's stupid. But, gets paid....the fighter delusion to win every damn fight against whoever is why good management is needed. "Good graces with the UFC" is a myth. They'll cut you with enough losses, find a better, usually cheaper, replacement.

Steamrolled is an understatement in this situation imo.
 
Bobby has so much to win and pretty much nothing to lose. It's Islam who takes all the risk in this fight. If he loses to short notice Bobby, then he will be a laughing stock.
Bobby is a good fighter though (but somewhat inconsistent), and he should be ranked in the top 15 imo, based on his performance against Fiziev.

I think Islam will run through him like he did against Hooker.

Soooooo turn it down then? Didn't realize that in his 15 year career with over 40 fights he's never trained to stop takedowns and submission attempts? lol
