Blue tint in movies.

Only Michael Mann should be allowed to go blue

The same as only Godard should be allowed to do red?

Really though it isn't single colour dominance that's the issue today so much as teal and orange grading, I blame Michael Bay.

The digital tinting looks terrible. Old school color gels and chemical color grading was much less irritating to the eyes.

I prefer the brown haze look like in 187, training day, falling down, and other movies shot in California. It just gives it a unique look or feel to it.

Game of thrones switches between blue and gold tint depending on who is on screen

It's just a common part of cinematic tones. Bluish/greenish tint are common usually because they are pulling down the midtones in general.
