When this society falls whatever comes next really need a seperate legal system to protect historical sources. Cause the idea that such a large treasure trust of historical sources can be stolen from future generations because some filthy capitalist bought the website is disturbing. Purchasing things comes with an obligation to care about their upkeep.
 
I almost never looked at the site, and don't know who that dude is specifically, but deleting a writer's entire portfolio of work after firing them is a whole other level of fucked up.

Sure these guys can trade on their names, and possibly their following, but ideally in that position you'd want to be able to show where your work is currently published.
