Bloodsport (1988) vs Mortal Kombat (1995)

The real weakness of Bloodsport for me is that the fight scenes are not that great IMHO, that whole "American ninja" kind of era Hollywood didnt really know how to do martial arts thats that well in terms of choreography or filming them.

Mortal Kombat is a bit of a mess, more an excuse for a succession of fight scenes but some of them are really quite good.

The Movie that inspired the video game vs the Movie version of that video game.

Wasn't going to make this thread because I was 95% sure Bloodsport would run away with it easily. But that 5% of me thinks the popularity of MK and cult status might be underestimated. And another part of me thinks maybe I do prefer MK deep down and cant be the only one.

Both are martial arts films. Both have a an exotic feel matched with music that enhances the mood. Lui Kang is kinda like cardio Chong li.

I'm a big fan of both movies. The criticisms are fair and they arent complex films but they are ones you can get lost in and and just enjoy.

Which movie do you prefer?

mk is an objectively better movie but blood sport in it’s time was the coolest

I am going to run against the grain and say MK because MK gave us the best made for a video game movie song ever. I hope it was used in at least one of the games. It legit pops hard. I remember this song more than anything in either movie.

Bloodsport greatest movie of all time
