Bloodborne v2, The Hunt Begins

I just beat the Blood-Starved Beast. Now I have no idea where to go?

The doors for the upper healing church open in the Cathedral Ward, I'd recommend checking it out if you want to save some souls.

Go to Oedon Chapel (cathedral ward lamp) and go through the double doors on the right that open after blood starved. Go through the healing church workshop and down the bottom will exit to cathedral ward again. You can open all the locked gates through there.

You could do all those things they suggest. Or you can get killed by a bag guy and get lots of free stuff. If you choose to do this don't focus on killing everything just run around and collect stuff. Enjoy ;)

Just beat the Wet Nurse and my sh!t's on fire. Went back to the Ward to track down the last chord. Hoping to get a chunk of time this afternoon when I get home from work to finish this off.

Not sure if I want to start with some Chalice Dungeons tomorrow or start Boarderlands: Handsome Jack Collection.

Really enjoying playing with the Kirkhammer. One shotting every regular mob with its R2 charge and the 1H sword is a perfect compliment when I need some quickness.

Yeah kirkhammer is great. Been using it the last couple of playthroughs.

I really didn't like it at first and wanted to go back to my axe but once I learned how to properly use it, it's awesome.

My buddy was talking mad shit on the rifle spear last night so I had to set him straight. He was watching me play for a while via Shareplay. He is about an hour ahead of me in the game and he's telling me how hard Shadows of Yarnham are, and how tough the large snakes are etc.... He watches me literally do nothing but charge R2 for 30 minutes, not getting hit once, and finally concedes that the rifle spear is borderline OP.

It even got to the point last night where I stopped using it because I think my skills are degrading getting too used to it.

You can pretty much stunlock anything except bosses. My favourite thing to do is three hit smash those stupid birds. Total overkill but it's hilarious.

If I started with a skill build I would love to use that weapon. Unfortunately i went strength. Ludwigs sword is pretty op with scaling so far though as well.

I should probably try a rifle spear run next playthrough. Tried it briefly but didn't get the hype. Then again I didn't like the kirkhammer at first either so maybe it'll come with practice.

Thanks for the Help.

I was in the cathedral and went through a door that was previously locked and up an elevator. I fought some guys in wheel chairs who shot at me with machine guns. I made my weigh up a ladder and eventually got to a door that was locked. There was a message that said I needed the key from the Hidden Forrest or something like that.

I will look for the healing church.

I think you may have just saved me a bunch of time because I totally forgot about that locked door up there and I just finished the forbidden forest last night.

I was actually somewhat amused when I fought the Shadows because they actually dodged the charging R2 every time. Unfortunately, for them, they have the poise of a blade of grass so I just hammered the shit out of them with the cane.

So what's the verdict on this game? Is it more accessible than Dark Souls? I'm interested in getting it but I'm not really into the super unforgiving hardcore shit.

I would say it is more stream-lined than Dark Souls, but no more forgiving than the Souls series. For many people it actually has a higher initial learning curve.

If you gave the Souls series an honest try and did not like them I wouldn't expect this game to really change your mind. It is a phenomenal game, though.

I can't decide if this game is harder than dark souls. They're very similar, difficulty wise.

The combat is more frenzied because of the faster pace and more mobs to deal with. On the other hand there are far fewer cheap deaths due to things like gravity, which is something that always annoys me about dark souls. The bosses are probably of similar difficulty.

One big difference is that bosses have more health in bloodborne so boss fights last longer. That change takes a while to get used to.

Thanks, I'll probably wait until the fall to pick it up then.

I think they are very close in terms of difficulty. I think I'd say the previous games are slightly harder because bosses and areas could lean more towards ranged or melee combat and if you weren't well-rounded those areas/bosses could be tough. Whereas we are all more or less the same build in Bloodborne.

Souls used to have very specific areas that were clearly designed to be more difficult than others. Like in Anor Londo trying to run up the narrow path with giant knights throwing lances at you was notoriously difficult. I have yet to really run into anything in Bloodborne that wasn't a pretty straight forward fight with ample room to navigate.
