He's not wrong. Although that's partly because Black Panther was a PG13. Blade was for grown ups
Is it Monday already!?Time for me to watch Blade again. Thanks, TS![]()
One of my favorite vampire and super hero movies. Action is awesome, story is solid, Frost is a great villain, digital effects are pretty terrible but easy to look past. Plus it has Kris Kristofferson.
Yeah practical were awesome. My favorite being Quinn being trashed at the beginning and slowly healing over the movie. It’s funny because the practical effects were actually quite good.
Love that movie. And it doesn't get enough credit for kicking off the marvel super hero movie craze.
After the success of blade, studios were quick to start work on X-Men and Spider-Man, which after several sequels eventually led to iron man and the rest is history.

Quinn is an underrated part of why the movie works. A great henchman. The look on Quinn's face when he think's Frost is going to slice off his just-healed arm with Blade's sword. Only to find out that Frost was just fucking with him<Lmaoo>
Top 5 opening scene of all time

The way all the vampires go from toying with their prey to becoming prey themselves is so satisfying. That "it's the daywalker" chatter and predatory wolf-like grin changes the whole mood instantly
Watched this the other day. Fuckin' awesome movie.

I think that was very much Wesley Snipes coming through. He had never played a character so subdued so I'm sure he wanted to punch it up some. I do agree that that little fist pump is a bit out of character for the moment. For some reason, him momentarily turning into Nino Brown really works though and I don't know whyThis used to be one of my absolute favorites. Very few of my VHS tapes spent more time in the VCR than Blade. Snipes kills it, Kristofferson is a better version of Alfred since he actually saddles up and rides, Dorff is an equal parts creepy and cool villain you enjoy watching but still want to see die, and the supporting cast is top-notch all the way down to the smallest character.
Agreed. Excellent structure with the great Kenny Johnson as the confused outsider/audience surrogate and one of the coolest hero intros in film history.
This, though, is my least favorite part of action movies. I hate cheeky BS like this. It takes me out of the moment. I hated this when I was 9 and I still hate it at 34. He hates vampires and he has a job to do that he takes very seriously. This stupid end zone touchdown dance shit doesn't belong.
The first true Black Super hero in main stream cinema
What!? Yeah, it’s one of the upper tier vampire movies. It’s badass and fun. Watch 1 and 2, both are amazing. Part 3 doesn’t exist if you are wondering so don’t bother even looking it up.Still have never seen this movie somehow, it always slips past me. Gotta amend that.
I'm kinda surprised no limited cinema release for the anniversary, seems like this movie would do well in modern times. Would be cool to see it for the first time in a theater. Although I guess maybe they don't want to take away from the upcoming remake.
