Got married to Danny Elfman I believe, had a son with him and essentially retired from the business to be a stay-at-home mom. Kind of surprised she didn't just scale back her schedule and continue to do things on a more limited basis as he got older. With her family name, talent, and beauty she was going to be able to get roles as she wanted them.

But good for her. She clearly never has to work in film again. I'm sure she had made a lot over the years and Elfman is probably worth a shit ton. As well he should be. Some of those Burton movie scores are epic- Batman, Batman Returns, Sleepy Hollow, etc

I don't know man, the more I think about it, the less reasons I see for this movie. The BW appeal lies in the mystery surrounding her.

And it's gonna be tough to swallow seeing her younger in Iron Man 2 (2010) then in her own movie. 10 years is a long time...

Red Sparrow is a very different type of spy film. Lawrence isn't throwing around guys half her size; fights in the movie are short, messy and ugly. Extreme violence takes a toll. When Lawrence kills a Russian assassin she wins only because she sucker-punched him and her CIA agent lover helps her. Even then, both of them require hospital treatment. When Lawrence is tortured, she manages to keep the information the KGB is after secret, but vomits out of sheer terror.

Espionage in Red Sparrow is portrayed very much like the world of organised crime: a sordid, paranoid existence where your friends and family are as much, or even more of, a danger to you than your enemies. It's a far more accurate version of intelligence work than Black Widow or James Bond.

MCU movies aren't dramas, they're action/scifi with drama and comedy added in where appropriate.

And Black Widow has been in comics, for 60+ years, during the cold war. She had her own human antagonists to fight in her own comics as recent as the 2000s.

They could have aimed for a spy plot, like in Captain America Winter Soldier. But nope, gotta fit in their agenda that makes everything suck.

Another example of wasted potential by Disney.

My guess is there going for a quite down to earth look for this film so his getup will be pseudo military body armour rather than more over the top.

As far as "anti gun" goes I'd guess that will be the badguys being more military industrial complex types, not exactly new for the MCU.

The big problem a lot of "woke" blockbusters tend to have is that there heroes become rather bland and lacking in flaws ala Captain Marvel and that shouldn't be an issue here.
