Social Black Panther (War Room Discussion)

Michael B. Jordan’s performance was ridiculously overrated—I just can’t buy into the hype behind this guy. Chadwick Boseman was much better, imo.

It was a cringe performance, his tormented face was Nicolas Cage material

I thought it was a great comic book movie and really enjoyed it, but it was nothing above and beyond. I liked Cap’s origin better and put it on par with Thor (it was way better than Thor 2).

I've been a fan of Michael b Jordan since his days of the wire and Friday night lights and with creed.

But I have to agree, regarding his performance in BP.

They made his character too evil, difficult to sympathize with or understand...

And I just can't but Michael b Jordan as a megalomaniac, ruthless villain...

We saw shades of humanity in his character toward the end...but I was not thrilled with his performance.

That being said, I was pleasantly surprised with BP. 7.5/10

You are skipping the obsession that some "conservative" people seem to have with it, which is the population of this forum. The politicization was not just from black people, obviously. I don't understand any of it to be honest. The obsession from both sides was bizarre. This forum tends towards the side you ignored though. I see that a lot on this forum, and I'm sure you do too.

Nac, I didn't ignore anything. I wrote from my point of view. I don't feel that conservative people have an "obsession" with the movie, rather the nonsense that surrounded it and I agree.

I don't usually like MJB, but I thought he was good in this role. He kind of plays himself though. Chadwick at least had to act regal and put an accent on.

Damson Idris and Daniel Kaluuya are my picks for the next gen black actors. Both are better than MJB. Obviously, Mahershala Ali is the next big older talent. Great actor.

I think we're all pretty much able to make the distinction that just because a movie is entertaining or we love it, doesn't mean it's Best Picture quality.

I loved Get Out, was entertained by it, but it's not a Best Picture quality flick.

I'd probably be more entertained watching Commando with Arnold over most of the Best Picture nominees.

Never got into any of the marvel dc films. They're all terrible.

The "nonsense" surrounding the film is exaggerated and harped on, much the same way that they complain "SJWs" harp on nonsense. They are flip sides of the same coin.

Agreed. I thought Creed was overrated too.

Was it as great as I wanted it to be? no.

but I thought Michael B Jordan's performance was very well done...

especially that scene when Balboa visits him in jail...and we see Creed struggling with all of his conflicting emotions...

that was a genuinely, well acted scene.

Oh yeah sorry I meant the actual movie, not Mike's performance. I thought he did good.

We saw shades of this with the new Ghostbusters.

there was some hub bub and "controversy" regarding negatively reviewing this film. Defenders of this film attempted to portray detractors of the remake as being "sexist."

Personally, I thought the "controversy" regarding BP was overplayed and exaggerated.
