I liked this movie, however, there were definitely some things that felt like a poke at white people that would not be tolerated had it been the other way around.

T’challa’s sister calls the one guy “white boy” there is the anti colonization aspect, and a few other things I can’t quite remember but jumped out at me.

Was it a good movie? Yes, worthy of an Oscar nom? No, I don’t think so, especially when movies like dark knight was snubbed. Infinity war was much better as well, so this movie is window dressing imo.

I finally got to see this movie and couldn't finish it because it sucked so bad. Just the opening in the apartment alone was like what a terrible way to start a film and by the time they got to the casino i bowed out.

He's one of my favourite Marvel characters, actually.
The nonsense surrounding the film put me off watching it when it was first released.

You aren't alone in that. I actually regret not being able to see it in the theatre though. Pretty sure I gave it a solid 8/10, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

But like bear said earlier, it's not like it was Shakespeare, and Infinity War was a superior film by all metrics.

I appreciate this movie a bit more, looking back. I still feel like it should have been a proper epic and it should have explored the racial/colonial/isolationist themes more. That should have stayed out front and the superhero shit should have been the backdrop. I can't shake the feeling that this was much harder-hitting at some early point in the production, and got watered down by a lot of suits. Gave me brilliance blue balls.
