Probably part of why people are doing that. It makes more sense than with Blade or Luke Cage though, as neither of those really had anything to do with Africa, they just had black protagonists. I havent seen it so i cant answer your second question for sure yet. From what i have heard its supposed to be good so we will never know what the coverage of it would have been like if it was bad.

I honestly believe that the reason the media has acted so full retard about this movie is in the hopes that they can spark an online backlash against it. Their ideal scenario would be if the movie bombed, but it already looks like that's not gonna happen. The reason is because it makes for great culture war copy no matter how small the supposed backlash is. Remember Mad Max, the first of the recent Star Wars, or of course Ghostbusters.

As for me I'm really looking forward to seeing this but I'm a mark for Marvel movies, even still. It looks good. I feel bad for anyone who legit feels some deep sense of cultural pride from a superhero blockbuster, but I haven't actually met anyone like that in real life.

There has always been a strong independence movement in Scotland, its rubbish to suggest a Mel Gibson movie started it up again. The author of that is full of shite

Right, but the movie gave it a sexy and emotional appeal, because that is what movies and visuals are good at. I do not think anyone seriously suggests the movie was a major reason for yearnings of Scottish independence, just that it added to its appeal, because movies are so accessible and easily digested by the young and masses.

Saw the movie........

Was decent but the rating was stupid as it was middle of road marvel flick not a 98% fucking score movie.

It is bothersome that's fucking marvel superhero movie was marketed luke it was Malcom X with Denzel. IT'S A FUCKING MARVEL MOVIE!!!!! and the main them in marketing was "the revolution will not be televised" . It was a set up an a cash grab by marvel to assure insanely great ratings which the movie didn't deserve ....... good flick not nearly as good as Thor Ragnorak a few months ago.

The film itself had a bad guy that the movie made to look as really not that bad cause he wanted to arm all the "brothers in oppresion" n kill all the white dudes.

In the end obtain this does more harm to marvel than good as to market a super hero film an baseed on race and have many race elements in the movie is just stupid. It was a,superhero film about a superhero who happened to be black n from Africa. Why does it have to demonize white people and try an " send a message"

Here's what's going on. Apparently, when you're a member of a sufficiently large group to be recognized as distinct by society, you particularly enjoy going to movies that have a positive message about people of your group, and may become particularly disappointed when there is a paucity of such movies about your group in relation to its size. Who would've thought such a thing? The people getting up in arms over it are unable to see things from another person's perspective, apparently. But then, this is the war room, where empathy is shat upon, it seems.

To put it another way,

Not really the sort of cinema I watch a lot of, but how much afrocentric cinema is there which isn't '70s blacksploitation or a modern version of the same?
Maybe that's why it's getting so much attention.
